Re: http://www.viperalley.com/forum/anything-goes/176817-fundraiser-car-show-abilene. Well, it's a shame none of ya'll decided to come out and support this very sick little boy. Fantastic car show, chassis dyno and all. Great people and great cars. Oh well, Alleyites were there.

Viper runs hot when sitting in traffic

A 170 thermostat will have absolutely no effect on running temp at all, unless it's cold enough outside to freeze a witch's ***.

Solo Cross Country Trip in Viper Contingency Plans

I'm surprised at so many talking about getting uncomfortable. It takes me 11 hours to drive 750 miles to my daughter's house and I only stop 2 times for gas. No cruise and I get there feeling great.

Solo Cross Country Trip in Viper Contingency Plans

I've taken my 76000 mile 02 GTS from Texas to Illinois (1500 mile roundtrip) twice and the only problem was a broken tensioner pulley which I got at Autozone. Averaged 22 MPG.

    Overheating issue(s)

You got me on that one, boss. If the water pump impeller is turning, you should have somewhat pressurized coolant flowing to the heater valve whether or not the thermostat is open. Not trying to be a ****, but is there any way you could have gotten the belt on the water pump pulley backwards?? I...

    Overheating issue(s)

Even if the thermostat were stuck closed, there should be heat inside the car, no? It was my understanding that when the stat is closed, it still circulates coolant through the heater core, given the water valve is in the open position. It gradually opens and sends coolant to the rad, as well as...

    Turning rotors. Myths and truths

I totally agree with the bedding in process. I put the Stoptech Big Brake system on my GTS and "bedded" the pads in according to the instructions. The difference before bedding and after is night and day. The aforementioned reference was just to illustrate the difference between new rotors and...

    Turning rotors. Myths and truths

Even if the rotors were able to be turned, you would be shooting yourself in the foot. I watched a video about it a few years ago. A car was set up with mechanically controlled gas and brake pedals for precise and repeatable control. It was then fitted with new pads and rotors and tested from 60...

    Hood Pads for Gen I/II?

You say they are currently available. Where?? VPA doesn't have them. I've called Chrysler myself, and they don't have them. Dodge parts online doesn't have them.

    Anyone Use Their Viper Daily?

I bought my 02 GTS on Dec. 2nd, 2011. Since then, I have put almost 30,000 miles on it. I've had very little go wrong with it. It doesn't like stop and go traffic in 100 degree weather so much, but no real problems. Definitely go with the Viper. You won't regret it.
