Depends on what your time is worth.
Do you have a price in mind as is? If you do, put it on eBay and see what happens. You might find someone who wants a Viper who can do their own work, that doesn't have enough money to buy a proper one. It used to be on eBay there was no obligation to sell...
Some years ago, friend in FL who deals in Vipers and exotics and knows the car said BaT would be best place to sell it. However my cursory research was troublesome since you basically have to "audition" for them to list and they may even set reserve. And of course, times may have changed. And...
I have no explanation why others have a weak snap or no snap or have their dipstick blow out. Mine is so right, when snapping to close or open, the amount of force required is so great I wonder if something will break each time I do it. I get into the details in post #14
It might be the...
It's a 1999 TNT heads, cam, headers, exhaust with other upgrades. Car has 90k on it. Could daily drive just fine as it is. The car is not perfect. It's modded. It's also a work in progress. Wondering how to approach BaT.
RE: NAMES:
I had a 1963 Super Red R2 factory supercharged Studebaker Super Lark that was a notorious street racer in the mid-70's. It was known as "The Red Car."
The car in my avatar is "Bad Viper" which is the name of the previous owner's ID on the Viper forums. I believe he also had a...
I bot a new one in 2000 from a dealer and never drove it. I'm guessing if you show up in a Lambo or something crazy expensive, they'd let you drive it - but that was back in 2000.
Then I bot a used modded GTS in 2001 and the owner took me for a drive. I don't know if he would have let me...
SCORE: Found a motherlode of NOS 4763791AB sticks from Timothy Kyle Bomar who has "... a shop full of Gen 1 parts."
(Boomer's Garage https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555306735652&mibextid=opq0tG)
Great guy, his name has to be out there for parts if it already isn't.
How did I...
FYI - saw this thread: I have a set of OE cats from 96 GTS that were removed when the new exhaust was installed. I bot the car with 60k on it in 2001. It was taken to TNT in 1999 for heads/cam for sure, not sure if they did headers/exhaust. Headers most likely and who wouldn't go for exhaust...
I have to fix mine too. What are my options nowadays?
Wow, I had to resurrect this thread - have been dealing with the same issues: (found thread searching for newly discovered 4763792AB!)
I have a 96 GTS where they put the upgraded oil pan on.
The dipstick has a scribed mark 1-1/4" below the...
It peeves me that such tires are DOT approved. Vipers are sold to anyone that has a driver's license which includes people that will treat them like ordinary cars.
I'm not going to sell the car with a "monkeyed" stick. It will have to be proper with OE parts.
I'd like to get the correct stick for my tube which is the "...AB" which does not appear in any of the parts manuals. It has the snap feature which I want to keep especially if that is correct...
Thanks guys for adding to the "Sebring Experience!"
Yeah Baby! Burning couches and toddlers running amok is a pretty good image! (I just want to know how the piles of garbage and junk accumulated) LOL, just thought: burning that couch: that was "cleanup!" Or perhaps Sebring's: BURNING...
Ah... Sebring:
When I bot my 2000 GTS new, having spent recently the very most by far on a used car ($7k), I drove it with 90 miles from near Pittsburgh to FL starting out in a snow storm. My intent was to stay 2 weeks but it ended up something like 7 (or 9). My pathetically meager plans went...
Too cold to work on it.
Could make the piece of copper extension strap for the Blue Sea terminal block I intend to install.
Then there's trying to decide what to do about the dipstick. I could get on the phone and call everyone and their uncle trying to find the right unobtanium.
I'd rather be...
I have Pennsylvania Classic plates on my 96 GTS. The title is branded "C" for Classic.
They do have a Collectible brand which I think is for cars that are modified - that actually applies to mine but I really haven't kept up on the latest law - they keep changing it so I quit checking it...
I like Hagerty: They offer collector car insurance ranging from garage kept to parked in driveway. They also don't care about your required non-collector car with normal insurance.
I hate JC Taylor: All collector cars have to be in a garage AND your required non-collector car with normal...
To bead, or not to bead... that is the question.... (arf arf)
The plot thickens.
First, I was wondering what the fancy red "can" was on yours - had no idea of the tube thread. NOTE: I can't believe the rib design would blow out. Mine is so tight, I sometimes have to reposition my hand on...
Flipping the stick, great idea, clearly easiest fix. Mine is twisted at the very end, could hammer that flat if required.
(or find a doner and TIG an extension on the top end where no one would notice)
If I want to get a correct stick, do they all have the "snap-can" on them?
From the parts...
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the pics and measurements. Unfortunately, (LOL) you've now opened what I feared would become a Can of Worms. I guess the "long story" needs told:
Original owner installed the late Gen 2 oil pan on the 1996 GTS and scribed a new FULL mark on the dipstick which is 1-1/4"...
I think I'm going to just tap off the main power stud out in the open. Have a Blue Sea 4 circuit fuse block that fits nicely - and the corresponding ground block for the rocker panel stud. Don't want to hide wiring since a lot going on.
NEXT QUESTION: (will probably post separate thread...
