Should I remove the Spare Tire for running the quarter-mile?

Granted, quarter-mile performance is normally enhanced by losing some weight from the car. However, you may want to consider keeping your spare tire IN THE TRUNK for your quarter mile runs for two reasons. First, a little more weight in the REAR of the car is a good thing, especially for a car whose stock suspension is not optimized for straight-line-only performance. Secondly, and importantly, is a safety benefit: the spare tire is a good source of absorbing crash-energy in the event that the rear end of the car smacks into a wall. And we all know how the tail swings wide when the Viper loses traction.
