Ok guys, I have used a lot of different waxes over the years and honestly I find that Zymol does the best job for me. I have a little trick that I was wondering if any any else uses. I have a spray bottle full of water and I use it to dampen the applicator pad before I put wax on it. Not much water just a spray or 2. I find that this really helps stretch the wax and also seems to harden the wax better that just applying it then removing it. If you use too much water it can get runny so you really need only a little. I was just wondering how many of you guys apply your wax with a dry applicator as opposed to a damp one?

ditto.......

and ditto again!! Plum--will you be going to Lime Rock, even if your car is not finished yet? We'd love to meet you, we've emailed before, Phil, though you possibly don't recall.
You helped out with a problem, I really can't recall what it was, it was so long ago!!
Just wondering--I know you're having your car worked on right now and it's in various stages/pieces...but would love to meet you. ~juli & mike~
*We'll be bringing our Viper, not tracking it however, as we'll be there later, 11am or so*

I mix my applicator with Z6 (quick detailer) before I apply my Zaino. :2tu:

Which Zymol do you use? And please don't say the blue liquid. ;)

I like Zymol. I would never use any product that Zainos produces. Growing up in Brooklyn brings back some fond memories :omg: Sal.

They are not cheap by no means but the Pinnacle products are exceptional and probably the best money can buy. A small tub of their caruba is 80 bucks, but man what a shine.........They have my vote.:headbang:

Zaino seems to be try to emulate Maguires product line, coming out with 22 steps (and products) to get your car to shine, when a coating of Pinnacle or Klasse does it in one and I guarentee will look as good if not better.

I use Zymol and love it. I just did it on sunday and the car looks amazing. I really thought most of you used Zaino, but I guess I was wrong.

I used to use Zaino then tried Adam's products and I am sold;) I do love Pinnacle too, just a little pricey.

I just don't want to do all the steps-give me a good wash and polish, and that's all I need. I will spend some time about once a month on the 'detail' stuff like the black trim, interior, adding wax, etc.

It is a hobby of mine trying different car care products and I have tried just about everything out there and have to say that I have not found anything that comes close to Zaino. Zaino is one of the few products out there that delivers both great looks and durability IMHO. I found all carnuaba products lack durability and most are cloudy on darker colors. I have Pinnacle and out of all of the Carnuabas it looks the best but it really lacks in the durability dept. Some of the more duraable waxes like Collinite are very milky.

It appears some people are basing their opinions on personal difference opposed to product performance which is their perogative but I base my opinion on performance alone and have no reason to be biased one way or another. I have to say that these what wax or what header post always turn into heated discussions and usually go south pretty quick since everybody has such strong opinions. I say if a product works for you keep using it as everybody has different priorities. The only real wrong product is no product.

I see that Zymol has a wax for dark colors (I have a Sapphire Blue GTS). The thing is my Viper has white stripes, should I use the same wax over the stripes, or is it better to use a different Zymol variant?

Have you tried P21S products? I get it on-line thru Autogeek. I have a black Viper and the P21S shampoo and then carnuba was gives it the most amazing 'wet look' shine. Feels like glass. It says "best wax money can buy" on lid and they are right!

I use P21S and like it, but have never tried Zymol(why not the blue Agent?) or any Zaino products.

The blue is just a cheap cleaner wax actually made by Turtle Wax and is mediocre wax at best. The estate waxes will give you a nice finish but like most carnuaba products lack in durability and do not hold up to heat well at all. I also found that Pinnacle souveran gives just as nice a look for less money and is much easier to use. That said I am sure none of them perform well on a Viper. :lmao: This is why I have been using a good sealant like Zaino for years.

I am not going to bash anyone elses product. There are some great waxes out there and then there are some not so great. If you want a truely premium Carnuaba paste wax, then you should get one with the least color and fillers in them.
If you take the highest grade Carnuaba wax and then go beyon that and refine ( strain) it, you will get "White Ivory Carnuaba" where the carity is near optically perfect. You can find these types of waxes anywere up to $ 400+ a tub, some are phenominal and some are not so great
When we set out to formulate a Paste wax from Pure White Ivory Carnuba, this was our greatest challange and the end result is what I beieve to be the best Carnuaba Paste wax at any price Jorgen's Garage : Polish & Wax : GT 20/20™ White Ivory Carnauba Paste Wax

As I mentioned in the past - All VCA members will get a VIP access code to the site for big discounts on all products. drop me a note [email protected]

Zymol is absolutly the BEST, but I'm not sure if you know the different quality of Zymols out in the marketplace. You can get a Pep boys grade of Zymol that is a liquid or the paste that sell for about Ten to fifteen bucks, But the real stuff sells for around 50 bucks and can only be purchased at a professional detailing store. Most people don' t know this. The carnuba content is 5 times that of the chain store stuff. Use the $50 product and you will never use anything else.

Zaino is a sealant, not a wax, so they really shouldnt be compared. IMO, Zaino gives a very plastic look to the paint. Sure it shines, but does not have any depth or wetness to it. Carnauba gives the paint depth and wetness, but obviously will not last as long as a sealant. What I recommend to people is to use a sealant on your daily driver, and a nice Carnauba on your garage queen.

Finding a good wax is important but surface prep (polishing) is the most important part by far. Anyone recommend a better than average polish?
