Well folks, 2008 was a great year! We had some new folks join up with the crew this year. Great cars, great friends and great memories that will a lifetime!!! And the membership only costs $100 a year…you have to be kidding me! J

With 2009 right around the corner we are already at work to line out a great 2009! So far we have a great line up events. In addition to the monthly drives and get togethers with the family, we have a personal meeting with Father Viper lined up, a fantastic track event line up…and that other thing…THE 2009 VIPER ROUND UP!!!! J Check your next Viper Quarterly magazine for details ;)

We are still lining out dates and getting venues, but until further notice the schedule will be as follows:
1. January – Cruise
2. February – Father Viper Q/A
3. March - Cruise
4. April – Viper Round Up
5. May – Charity Cruise
6. June - Cruise
7. July - Cruise
8. August - Cruise
9. September – Track Event
10. October – Cruise
11. November – Charity Cruise
12. December – Christmas Gathering

Now, for the January details…we have a couple of roads in mind but are still finalizing. With January being upon us and some cooler weather hitting us, we will definitely need to warm up those cars nicely in these calling roads. So get that hot cocoa out, put some extra blankets in the car, put in your favorite CD and cozy up for the cool cruising weather J

When:
Saturday, January 10th
Meet at 10:00am and leave at 10:30am

Where:
Meeting Place: Gattiland Pizza place in Round Rock (Southwest corner of I-35 and Highway 79). It’s a big shopping center parking lot.

Lunch:
Lunch at a local eatery located right in Jonestown, Tx.

Thanks, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

San Antonio Viper owners!

Come out, come out, wherever you are!

Hook up for a caravan up to Austin for the January 10th cruise! Presuming good driving weather.

Depart around 9 a.m.ish on Jan 10th from the HEB gas station at the 3009 (Garden Ridge) exit on I-35 N.

Respond here or send me an e-mail at [email protected] so I know how many to expect before we pull out.

That's going to be a heck of a drive to get from San Antonio to Round Rock in that time frame.

Keep up the good work Ryan, your events are always soooo much fun! I will be in Houston judging a horse show or I would be there to enjoy the January drive. You guys could come up to TWS Jan 24 & 25th for a track day too. It will be fun! Drivers Edge is sponsoring the event and it's a great organization to start with if some of your members have never been to the race track before. They will have charity laps at noon both days too. Hope to see you again soon!

Would have been 3 Slate's if you showed up to the dyno day last month.... :)

(sorry I can't make it this weekend)

Yeah, I know!! Wife just insisted I go to this BBQ/B-day party she had booked us for. I love my car but I didn't want to end up having to sleep in it.:D

Looking forward to the April Round-Up.:2tu:

What's broken Oh Great Got One? Maybe we should wrap up on 1/10 with some suds-n-tools at the Great G-One's Oil Dungeon? :dunno:

Sure, if you want to tackle a brake job with me...rotors and pads front and back. And new O2 sensor replacement...will have to plice into the existing harness...never done either one solo before so this should be interesting...any and all help is of course encouraged and appreciated ;) Besides...Dave if you come down, you HAVE to stop by to show me those new rims!!!

Brakes should be quick. If you can limp over to my house in the evening after work for the lift, I can get you back on the road in 1 hr if you have the parts with you.

O2 shouldn't take long. I've got O2 harness extensions on mine, which should be no different than splicing in a new O2. Besides, O2 sensors are for wimps. Just drive WOT and you don't have to worry about the O2.

Dave,
You going to have the wheels on by this weekend?

Still waiting on my tires from Viper Specialty. When I talked to him Monday week ago he was shipping them out that day. Between the New Years break and some bad icy weather they must still be in the brown truck somewhere.

And aside from that, this is not just wheels and tires. Full SRT brake conversion front and rear with e-brake relocate. Wiring and mounting the Hella TPMS. After a test fit on the car, taking the tires and wheels to Motorsport Ranch for mounting and balancing.

I plan on having a nose bleed every time I stop now.

Weather forecast for Sat 1/10 as of Monday 1/5...

Austin - sunny and 60's

Looks like we'll be seeing you guys and gals on Saturday!

As of 1-7...

Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 50s and lows in the mid 30s.

I guess I'll keep the top up or turn heater on high and wear a coat.:drive:

Tere,
Do you have any SA Vipers coming with you? I can cut across at Luling and take 80 and meet you at I35 N and 80 in San Marcos around 9:30. There is a Jason's Deli on the corner there. Let me know.

Not a thing from anyone in SA -- there doesn't seem to be much of a Viper community here.

I'll make a quick pit stop at I-35N and 80 at the Jason's Deli. Shooting for 9:30ish.

So there we were....

Four Vipers and a Z06 in the Texas hill country surrounded by a posse of local gendarmes. AND who do you think gets pulled over by no less than three of the constabulary -- regular light show of red and blue. You got it -- granny! No front plates -- now who puts front plates on a Viper? So I pull the plate from beside the seat and toss it up on the front dash. The law is now happy and granny gets let go with a warning. The copper also says that there's a dragnet out for a stampeding herd of wild snakes -- the slithering little suckers are "racing"!

Aside from that little detractor, it was a fun day running the twisties at a nice clip with a bunch of Vipers, a few Elises, a couple Vettes, a couple M3s, a couple NSXs, a Porsche, and the notorious Prowler. :2tu::drive::2tu:

LOL... flatterer!

Granny is now AKA: Cop Bait

What cop on earth would go to court saying a 60 year-old granny was "racing" a Viper? Wonder if they've still got the APB out in the hill country for those "racing" snakes? :drive:

Beach Boys: Go granny, go granny, go granny, go! (oh well, if it's not red and not a super stock Dodge). :)

Boy, sounds like you guys had a great time! Granny with no front plate gets pulled over too funny. What road were you on?

And a Viper with a front plate...will have to do something about that... ;)

I am trying to get Feb lined out and solidified...tough, but I hope to have a date nailed down with Father Viper here soon !!!
