Many thanks to Ralph and the SRT team for giving us a beautiful and awesome Gen V!
Questions:
1. Will the production cars have the same tire to wheel arch spacing as the show car? If not what will the production wheel/arch clearance be?
2. What is the road height clearance of the show car GTS? Of a production car?
3. If needed, how can a production GTS be lowered with ride adjustable coil over Bilsteins to the show car height?
4. When will pictures of all the new interior and exterior color's be available?

1) Slightly more
2) Didn't measure the show car. Too soon to tell you.
3) Aftermarket height adjustable coilovers.
4) When Ralph says we can!

Less plastic and more high quality materials. Both the SRT and GTS will be hand wrapped. SRT will be wrapped in a high quality PUR and GTS will come in two different leather (Nappa and Laugna Soft leather)
How will the SRT interior differ from the GTS interior? How will the Gen V appeal to those of us who prefer the Viper to be raw/basic/nasty?[/QUOTE]

This doesn't directly address your independant guys, but when Sergio first showed the Viper to dealers in 2010, he said it would be available at “select” dealers, so that is our plan. Dealers will have to have Viper certified techs to be able to sell the cars. Those technicians will have to pass a number of prerequisites and then travel to a handful of locations that will teach the Viper courses. It will be a pretty extensive requirement. Vipers will also be allocated to these dealers based on SRT and historic Viper sales, so tell your dealer to sell a bunch of SRTs if he wants to get Vipers.

I just got off the phone with a Viper tech/engine builder who couldn't be on the live chat. He asked who is in charge of the new Viper Tech program?

Thank you to the SRT team for all the hard work, dedication and countless hours, to re-issue the Viper in the Gen V configurations! Against all odds it almost seems.
Please consider a special sales brochure for this 2013 model. With so many new development and engineering details, it could easily be as impressive as the 2010 Final Edition brochure was.

It would be great if enough copies were available that VCA members could purchase them directly. Brochures can be somewhat rare around dealerships and this could help out the VCA or VPA via the sales.
thanks,
brent

Yes there will be a 2013 brochure and we will sell it on http://www.srtshop.com/welcome.asp. Thanks for the complement on the 2010 book. We actually won a national marketing award for that book.

These were posted on the first page but for ease of access, here they are again:
1. What is the difference in cooling efficiency between the GTS and SRT Viper hoods?

2. Does the difference in the hoods affect top speed or the time within which top speed can be reached?

3. What is the difference in settings between the track setting on the GTS suspension and the setting on the SRT suspension? In other words, will a GTS with a track pack with the suspension set for the track, even though it is 74 pounds heavier, beat an SRT with a track pack on a road course?

4. Did you consider the use of a front fascia camera as an option? The rear facing camera is nice but of limited utility.

5. Is the launch control adjustable or is it a fixed setting?

6. What half shafts were used? Will they tolerate 1000 HP?

why are you asking twice see 27

1 and 2: Sorry - it's too early to discuss performance numbers

3: Too soon to say. Suspension tuning is not yet finalized.

4: Yes, we considered it. Never say never.

5: Launch control is not adjustable.

6: The halfshafts might tolerate 1000 HP with a 1.5 final drive!

The Gen V window regulator has been updated with improvements to the cable, cable run, and slides. In addition, we have designed the door to make it easier to install at the plant, reducing the possibility of damage during installation. Also, we added flexibility in adjustment.

Great news! And thanks for answering all these questions.

Any chance the Gen V window regulator will be compatible with the Gen III/IV?

Do you guys, or anyone for that matter, know what the Canadian price for the GTS will be? I can't seem to find out from my local Viper dealer in Toronto. The 3rd email quotes a price of $137,000 US, could this be right? If so, it would cost us about $145,000 Cdn.

Pricing has not yet been finalized on the Vipers for any country, so we can’t answer that question yet. Since it hasn’t been finalized, I have no idea where $137K came from.

It was great to see Pirelli reps in NYC. Says a lot.

We learned how to look for the "C-1" designation going back to the 18" Gen 2 Pilot Sports to know they were the Viper Specific model.

Anything to be looking for on the new Pirelli tires or are all of them in this size/model Viper specific?

Look forward to seeing you at VOI-12 this fall.

The car show had a carbon fiber rear end while a recent video showed a painted rear end. Just curious as to which one is official or if it differs from models.

What is the RPM set to on the LC?

Multiple stages for the TC were mentioned; how agressive are the settings in between each?

Will the weight distribution still be set to a slight rear bias?

What is the weight of wheels compared to the "sidewinders" of the prvious generation?

- We are looking at the carbon fiber rear applique to be an option on the GTS model. The body color painted rear applique will be standard on the SRT Viper and a black painted rear applique will be standard on the GTS Viper model.
- We are still calibrating the LC on the vehicle.
- The TC system, even in 'Full On', will be very satisfying for most drivers. In 'Full Off' mode, there will be no intervention whatsoever. The GTS model will get two more modes: Sport (with more aggressive TC and ESC) and Track mode (with agreessive ESC and no TC). We are still tuning and calibrating all of the modes but rest assured that we are putting a big focus on getting all of the modes right.
- The weight distribution will be very close to 50/50. The addition of carbon fiber upper body panels lowered the center of gravity and moved the F/R bias slightly forward, compared to Gen 4.
- The vehicle set of the Track Pack optional wheel will be lighter than the previous ACR/Sidewinder wheel.

The Pirelli tires were specifically designed for thé gen V I understand from Ralf Gilles presentation with specific compound from to back!

How would these tires work on a gen IV ?

Color samples will be available later this year. There are four colors Black, Red, Caramel, and Sepia.
You had the interior selections at the show (thanks for that), but we didn't have samples of the color selections. The zip drive has a list of the colors, but no samples. When can we get an idea (swatches) of the colors for the cars? Are there going to be any special "intro" colors (e.g. first 300, for your most loyal owners who have many vipers :) ).

Also, it was discussed that we have a hood selection on the GTS, are there pros and cons of which hood one should get?

Thanks for the time, making an awesome car, and a great experience at the NY show.

With the revised cooling system, so you still plan to run the Gen V engine at the same temp as previous generations? What will the normal range be and fan on point?

With the VCT feature and additional HP, what is the maximum oil flow rate the 041AA "SRT" oil filter will be handling? Are there any other interesting details about the lubricating oil system that you can share at this time?
thank you,
bb

Brent,

Only you would ask a question like this! The oil flow in the engine is unchanged from Gen IV, the filter could handle significantly more flow. The most interesting lubrication question is probably a new oil for SRT products, the new Pennzoil Ultra synthetic 0W-40. Shell/Pennzoil was a great partner for us in developing this new oil just for us! The new oil is a low friction high detergent product that is suitable for older snakes as well!

Regarding the convertible version. Is the top going to be powered?

Probably confidential but can't blame for asking. Have you considered the possibility of a retractable hardtop as opposed to a softop or the weight of such system makes it non-practical for a viper?

This would land squarely in the "can't talk about future product" category. ;)

What ride/handling changes can be attributed to the change from Michelin to Pirelli tires.

What advantages drove the changes as opposed to the Pilot Super Sports?

Certificates for club members and current owners? Please! GTS Bruce

No certificates (talked about this one earlier). It looks like we will be able to give VCA members priority on builds, so if you put your up-to-date VCA member number on your order, then we will move it to the front of the line. Can't talk about roadsters yet.
