I purchased a big brake kit (Stoptech) from RSI out of Bridgeport, TX close to 3 months ago for my 96 Viper GTS. I was told it would take about 2-3 weeks for the brakes to ship. After a month I called RSI to check the status and was told that Stoptech was notorious for taking their time and that they would call them and get to the bottom of it. I tried to call Stoptech, but they needed a P.O....and they only deal with distributors, not direct with the public. I exchanged e-mails with RSI over the course of the next month and a half politely inquiring about the status....to no avail. I finally asked RSI if they could give me a P.O. number so that I might call Stoptech to verify what they were telling me. RSI emailed me the P.O. number. I called Stoptech and gave their service rep the P.O. He was taken aback and couldn't believeRSI had done that. I explained the problem I was having and he said he would call me at the end of the day and give me an answer on my brakes. He asked me if I had paid a deposit on my brakes and I told him no, I had paid for them in full. Later that afternoon, I received a call from Stoptech. They told me that my brakes have been ready to ship, but they were on hold awaiting payment from RSI. I was pissed...but maintained my composure. The Stoptech rep also explained to me a few other things that I am not at liberty to discuss. Has anyone else had any problems like this from RSI? Any input that might help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

If you paid by credit card, perhaps you should discuss it with your card provider about reversing the charges and going elsewhere. I have no dealing with RSI but maybe you can get your money back and pick up the brakes elsewhere.

RSI is a reputable vendor. Let's not assume the worst yet. Will just recently announced that he has hired someone to help with the growing business. I do not doubt that this issue could have been handled better; but, it sounds like something got lost in the shuffle.

I know they are reputable, I checked out their reviews prior to purchasing from them. I just don't think they should use me as their personal banker. From all I have heard recently, and I'm not gonna quote ANYONE, they are experiencing some problems not associated with growth. Anyway, I could care less....I just want my brakes.

Issues like this come up every 3-6 months on the "other site", normally it's guys who live outside of Texas though. I've never dealt with them, but seeing all the drama in other threads I turn my business elsewhere.

OP, if what you've stated is true I hope it works out for you.

You know what? I bought some 19 inch SP600 wheels from John Purner at CCW...(absolute gentleman and excellent customer service). He told me that he has had to reluctantly restructure his business to cater more and more to the "ricer" crowd in order to maintain sales. Specialty shops like RSI are nice to have around for Viper owners, but I feel that if they could broaden their services a bit they wouldn't have to milk every sale. Had they got me my brakes quick, I would have had them install them as well. I would also like my heads ported and polished...maybe the blower intake ported, water **** injection, race gas tune, roll bars etc. They are missing out on my future biz...

Eric,
I will be contacting you tomorrow morning. I do want to make sure that you are fully aware that we placed your order with Stoptech immediately after your payment was posted. We were notified late in the day on Thursday by email that your kit was finally ready for shipment. I'm not 100% sure what Stoptech had to say to you, but we can discuss this in the morning as I will also be calling them. Any discount that I get from them for the delay will be passed along to you.

Exactly, small customers can turn into big customers if treated right. Business 101

Will, thank you for your attention to this matter. I damn near feel bad posting this thread but I was starting to smell something rotten in Denmark and had to take action. Just please get this taken care of and treat me seriously in the future. Take care, Eric

They have called me and are working hard to resolve this. I feel a hell of a lot better now.

They are now working to resolve it after you brought it public on the message boards. Sounds like the common poor business practices of RSI we all been hearing about. Take the money, wait for the complaint from the buyer and then blame the distributor for the delay, while they used your money somewhere else.

Brakes are arriving via UPS on Friday.....(verified by tracking numbers). Now I'm hoping I get what I ordered. We shall see. Have heard nothing about any discount yet.....although I did provide them with a 3 month no interest loan. Oh well.

Stoptech has been a good vendor and although sometimes slow, they normally get the product handled within 3-4 weeks. In this case it was not 3 months as the order was paid on June 24th. To be fair to Stoptech, it appears the order was ready last week and it did take us a couple of days to see that it was ready and handle it on our end.

Eric, Please call me when you have time. I have tried to reach you a few times this week and only get your voicemail. You can reach me on my cell at 940-626-9949

I understand RSI and Stoptech are reputable vendors. I read reviews and did my due diligence prior to ordering. My objective was not to bash RSI by posting this thread. Communication had broken down and it was the first purchase I had made through RSI.....a fairly large purchase. Regardless, I'm not sitting here biting at the bit to have my brakes. Just needed some assurances from them at certain points and its when I talked to Stoptech that things got a little helter skelter. I will purchase from RSI again and give them another chance. We all know each other now and I'm sure communication will be better in the future.
