We will try to make this one. Coming up from Charleston, so probably going to drive up Friday night. Is there anywhere people recommend staying? Or does anyone in the area have a spare room we can crash in for the night? I'm itching for a drive, and this seems like a perfect excuse. Plus I would like to meet some of the other viper owners around the area.

Sorry Chris I didn't see this as I was out of town on business (Huntsville, Ala) and didn't return until Friday evening. I definitely had a spare room, next time?

We had a great turnout even though I sense the heavy fog did effect some from coming out Saturday morning. The fog was so thick, you actually could not see across the parking lot until about 9am when it started to lift. Once it dissipated, it was a beautiful morning.

Here are a few photos of the Viper contingent, Rich and his “slammed” Viper was in attendance, Brandon made the trip from Greensboro and here is a pic of his very cute daughter Erica buckled up in her car seat, Ross and his great looking Viper and a view across the parking lot in which we normally park at the front corner along the road.

Here is Angel Bonet, wiping the dew off the hood, he made the early morning trip up from Greenville, SC, and it was great to see you. Angel, no matter how much you wipe/polish/buff your Viper it will never be Snakeskin Green, :) !

If you are into exotics, there is never a shortage of super cars in Charlotte. There were numerous Ferrari’s and Lambo’s and others in attendance, this 458 Italia (one of 4 on the parking lot) was just delivered to the owner, less than 20 miles.

Just a few other photo’s to give you a taste of the wide variety of vehicles that show up each month. You just never know what you will find as you walk row after row of cars. Not sure if you would define this first car as a Rat Rod, but the patina and flathead certainly attracted most visitors to stop and check it out. A Z/28 with a dual Holley’s on a cross ram sitting atop a 302, was one of my favorites. A “Gasser” styled 60’s Buick Skylark and a Shelby with a 428.

What I like best about the monthly Charlotte Cars and Coffee is not just the variety of cars and that each month you never know what you will see, but more so the people you meet and the stories you learn about. For instance, this 1971 Pace Car. The back story which I did not know of the original Pace car used in the Indy 500 in 1971 is that it is the only Pace Car ever to wreck, brakes faded as it came off the track and crashed. The owner of this vehicle collects Pace Cars among other cars and has over 20 Pace Cars in his collection. He also is a Viper owner (as well as being very involved with Corvette’s) and used to be an active member of our club several years ago.

Sorry I didn't make it out. It was pouring really bad Friday night and while I don't mind getting caught in a small shower here and there, I try not to do a road trip in a storm. One of these days I will make it out. CBR-ACR, thank you for the room, I will hit you up on that next time

Awesome pics Chuck - hoping I'm free to finally get down there next month..

I know all about that fog Saturday morning - we left early for the beach and were driving in it for nearly two hours before it lifted.

Here is a picture of a silver RT/10 that I saw at the Cary Cars and Coffee last weekend. There was a great turnout of cars. Saw two other vipers, four Audi R8s, a C7 Corvette and about 300 other nice cars; new and antique. I might try to take the Charger up there in December. From a distance I thought it belonged to Pat but the owner approached me next to my car a few minutes after he pulled in. His name is Stan and he lives in the Raleigh area. Only has 5000 miles on this beautiful car.

Haha, not me - still trying to make a Charlotte C&C but seems like there's something going on every month it comes around! What year was that RT?

Pat, I actually saw it at the Cary Cars and Coffee (Wavery Place in Cary). I don't think Stan goes very often but he did say that he is a VCA member. The RT/10 was a 1998...bone stock too.

Just a quick reminder that the Charlotte Cars & Coffee will be held on this upcoming Saturday (January 4th, it runs from 8am-11am). With the holiday and the cooler temps, I am not sure what to expect with participation, but if my first C&C last February in which we experienced a cloudy 24 degree day is any indicator, we should have a good turnout. At this time, the 7 day forecast projects a sunny day with lows starting at 30 rising to a toasty 45, zero chance of precipitation. For those that have not been there it’s held the 1st Saturday of every month at 915 Hamilton St. Charlotte NC (at the NC Music Factory/Matties Diner in uptown Charlotte). We will park at the NW corner along the front of the parking lot facing Hamilton, next to the second entrance into the lot.

The cold 21 degree temps certainly adversely influenced the turnout yesterday, it was a slow start but by 9am cars were arriving somewhat steady. As usual there was a large turnout by the Mustang, Corvette, and Porsche group. A local Maserati dealer had several cars out to show along with some of their customers in attendance showing support. I left around 9:30 after the clouds had moved in and it seemed to get colder, there was only about 250 cars in attendance. I was approached by the local newspaper and a car magazine to shoot my car with the sun rising, so there was a little benefit in braving the cold.

Here are a few pics of cars I had not seen before, first is a beautiful 56 Chevy. The original Bermuda Blue color looked really nice, it was powered by a 66 Vette 327 with Fuelie Heads. It was a nice car, and his license plate says it all. There actually were several Jags there yesterday, and one of my all-time favorites a 69 Olympic Gold Z/28 with a 302 and 4:10 rear. Nice car.

Charlotte Cars & Coffee will be held on this upcoming Saturday (March 8th, it runs from 8am-11am). The CIAA Basketball Tournament pushed C&C to this week where it is normally the first Saturday of the month. Though there was a possibility that this event would be cancelled indefinitely due to a irresponsible car owner, they decided to reinstate the monthly C&C last week. Weather looks to be good, sunny 67/42 which should encourage a good turnout. The address is 915 Hamilton St. Charlotte NC (at the NC Music Factory/Matties Diner in uptown Charlotte). We will park at the NW corner along the front of the parking lot facing Hamilton, next to the second entrance into the lot.

Though the morning started off quite cold, the temps didn’t deter the attendance as we had over 600 cars attend the Charlotte Cars and Coffee this morning. The usual clubs were well represented, Porsche, BMW, Mustang, Corvette and Modern Muscle all had numerous cars on the lot. Ross didn't bring his Viper today, he brought out his Track Car Mustang. I counted a total of 7 Lotus’s participating, a shot of 3 parked together, below. Unusual to see a couple of late 50’s Citroen’s out this morning.

A couple of cool Mopars, an all original never restored 69 Super Bee, it was hard to believe this car had never been restored as it looked so nice. Also check out this 69 Road Runner SRT 8. The sale listing from RK Motorsports was on the dash, $129k for basically a 69 body on a modern chassis and drivetrain, also interior. This Nomad was nice as well, sounded great the owner did not open the hood, but notice the patchwork on the hood, at one time no doubt a blower was poking through that hood. A really nice all original 67 442 for your viewing pleasure.

A Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Holman Moody TDF Mustang (1 of 50) made an appearance. I have read about this car but had not seen one. Upgraded exhaust with output at 444 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. It’s a track car with a beefed-up oil cooler and radiator, as well as a high-flow air filter and a 3.73:1 limited slip rear differential. The real magic of the Holman & Moody tuning is found in the underpinnings. Holman & Moody's own adjustable splined sway bars can be found front and back, and SVT shocks and struts can also be fine-tuned for racing or road applications. Cool car. Also Detroit Speed had three of their Pro-Touring cars at C&C, a beautiful 69 Camaro with a LS7, a 57 Chevy with and LSX 454 and a 68 Camaro with a LS7. Got to love Charlotte, you never know what you will see on any given morning.

Just a reminder, Cars & Coffee Charlotte is this Saturday (May 3rd), it runs from 8am-11am. Something for everyone, though you may see many of the regular participants, there is always some cars that I have never seen before. Always a large turnout, if you plan to attend, let me know and we will work towards parking together. For those that have not been there it’s held the 1st Saturday of every month at 915 Hamilton St. Charlotte NC (at the NC Music Factory/Matties Diner in uptown Charlotte). I plan to arrive around 7:30 and will look to park along the road between both entrances if possible. Please try to attend, you will not be disappointed!

Enjoyed being able to see Chuck, Ross, and our new Viper friend Yuriy (sp?) . Weather was great, as was the turnout. Hopefully see everyone again before too long.
