I finally got a 2006 red with white striped viper made by Autoart. I figured with 6000 pieces made, it would have been easier to find one, but that isn't the case. One finally came up on ebay and I got in a little bit of a bidding war and ended up paying $122. Its way more than I wanted to spend, but I really wanted a diecast that matches my 06 VCA coupe. Eventually I would like a nice 1:18 of each generation to display in the garage. It should look pretty cool.

The autoart diecasts sure are nice but pricey for dust collectors. Looking at your avatar you're going to need a gen4 hood for it :D.

I just shipped one of the GTS-R 1/18 Autoart models to the USA, the models are held to the black plastic base by 3 small screws the front bonnet is held in place by a clear plastic strap which is secured to the base by a single screw. Sadly that screw came detached due to rough handling by the courier company, as a result the bonnet was flying about loose in the box smashing off the front wheel, wing mirror, engine parts and damaging the rear wing.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing! If you plan on purchasing any more of these, make sure to get the hood and doors wrapped in cling film around the car and black plastic base for more security.

They don't have to be if you sit on the right auction sites for long enough you end up with a Team Chamberlain GTS-R for... hold on to your seat... $73 mint in box.

InjectTheVenom is correct. You don't have to pay that kind of money for that specific model. I paid $49 for mine. Some of the GTS-R cars are $100+. I have 26 different AutoArt Viper models (all in 1:18) and I've paid anywhere from $40 to $186, with only 6 over $100.

Even for a GTS-R $186 is too much. I have 5 of them and none were over $100, even the special edition Daytona #91 and all are still in perfect condition. Really all you need to do is hawk the internet and you will be rewarded for your patience. I recently got what have to be THE absolute rarest pair of Minichamps 1:43 GTS-R's for $26.26 each, the little sister to the black/yellow Chamberlain car and United Colors of Beneton. That last one seldomly surfaces too.

I will keep my eyes out for other good deals for the generations I am missing. I just had to have the red w/white to match my car. I was willing to pay a little more to make it happen. I have a 1:18 black 03 (not autoart) that matched my black 03 viper I owned before getting the coupe and its pretty cool to have an exact replica for car shows and stuff.

Hey Mark, 26 is impressive! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that would be all that AutoArt produced. 14 GTS-Rs, 4 Competition Coupes, 2 SRT-10 coupes, and 6 SRT-10 convertibles (3 "prototypes" with the older engine and 3 with the newer engine). Am I missing any?
