When I used to Admin, I never really believed in putting people on Mod Status or Lifetime bans, always considered both to be a bit of over kill. However, with that said. I did believe in 1 week, 2 week and 1 month suspensions (that included a reason the member could see so they knew why). I found that method to be more effective as the member was responsible for their own time off depending on just how hard they wanted to push a given limit or warnings that were issued.

The hardest part was doing all that and being friends with the people that were sometimes the worst of the worst and not being friends with ones that have occasional infractions and being fair to everyone. It's a mighty thin line to balance on. The added pressure from different members as to why and how come one was allowed to stay and not banned for longer or just the opposite that the infraction didn't warrant a longer time off. Those that have modded know these problems and know the frustrations. Mods can't be online every second and don't see every post... Bad things are missed and when they are it's seen as an accepted post and OK... when in fact, it's not!

The hardest part is providing an avenue for redemption and allowing someone with a questionable track record to continue. Went through a hell of a fracture in the community when I did that for a member. Am I glad I did it, yes and no. The member became a model citizen and treated everyone well. On the other hand, lost a few really good members in the process. In the long run, I lost.

Just thought I would add a little perspective for the other side of the curtain and that was on a forum that couldn't even dream to see the kind of activity this forum had in it's prime

I am a loyal, paying member of this site and claim ownership to my own damn bandwidth. If there was a backbone here at all, this very thread wouldn't exist. As a matter of fact, if your ass can't scratch up a hundred bucks and get a REAL membership, I'd kick all you $hit birds out.

I would like to see Free2go run for VCA President during the next elections. A win there would solve a lot of the difficulties ! :2tu:

Free (or any member) who is interested in ANY position or board position, is VERY welcome.

Over 3 dozen users who were banned have been taken off ban, and they will be notified. They were banned with no reason listed, during a time when these bans were likely politically motivated, so let's see what happens...

I find the timing of this thread, and the releasing of WIll from RSI's thread and the defense of him on that thread by Nsane1 incredibly ironic and suspicious...I smell something fishy in the works in the back ground...Just sayin...

It could be as simple as some things take time to defrost and the time has come.

Think what you want, lord knows we can't influence what you guys think. But the truth is, we have our first raffle in over a year, the IRS stuff is behind us, we have an excellent support staff at a fair price, so it's time to move forward..

If the last year didn't kill us, likely nothing will, honestly, it was touch and go; now the wind is at our backs, and its time to mend some fences. Time will tell won't it, oh yeah, and look for some more new regions soon :)

Perhaps there can be some movement to being a better club after all. Unlike some, I think the world is big enough for 2 national Viper clubs.

Curious, what did the IRS have to say?

I have a friend here in Houston who was/is banned for asking that very question. And any other that dared to imply the Marshall's were taking the members to the cleaners. I do believe however, that you will actually get an actual correct answer here.

I think that Greg got a little ahead of himself. The examination is almost concluded. The Agent was very thorough and reviewed everything very carefully. As I mentioned in another post a while back, there were various errors due to the sickness and death of two separate accountants who did not have exempt organization expertise and the ignorance of all of the VCA Board members regarding the complex reporting requirements of a Subsection 501(c)(7) of the IRC organization. It took quite a bit of time to find documents and data. For instance, some data was found in the basement of one of the accountants. This type of issue is not unusual in an all volunteer organization. Especially when the Board breaks up and everyone goes their own way.

Dan put in an enormous amount of time working to gather the necessary historical data.

It should be noted that after the VCA examination is concluded, there might be subsequent IRS activity regarding one or more Regions and one or more individuals not affiliated with the VCA. This is because the data requested by the Agent and reviewed by the Agent might lead to same. This type of activity is referred to as an examination by infection and can happen when an entity is examined.

Please note that to the extent that I have provided any assistance to the VCA regarding this matter, it has been done on a pro bono basis. I have not asked for or received any compensation.

The land of two incarcerated Governors
would still love to know who the **** VCA forum staff is.....that account alone should be completely destroyed. the anonymity banning **** has to stop

The last time I saw VCA Forum Staff we all knew who was behind it. Unfortunately since I have been forcefully absenced from this site since that time I still view that account the same way. That is a user name that should have gone with them.

Same here. I have not so fond memories of that account. Hopefully, with this site/club moving past all the hateful crap, that account will be terminated.

Sorry, that account is the only with the authority to add users. To at least make it no longer anonymous, the only 2 people with the password are John M and I as of 2 months ago.

Guess I'm not one of them huh?. Just because I never backed down, and took the fight to National/Marshal/Stubberfield.?

None of the bannings were warranted...

I know of three that were VERY warranted - in fact, the agreement with the VCA
regarding two of them was that I would drop my criminal charges if both individuals
were banned for life. The third was banned for reasons not related to me, but in.
my opinion should have been arrested as well.

While I have no argument on some people being banned for no proper reason
(even I spent some time in the penalty box for my disgust of the Gen3) I think any
with long-term or lifetime bans should be CAREFULLY investigated before being
allowed back in...

Just wanted to confirm this information. I'd be happy to put my name at the end of the communications I send. One good reason to use the VCA Forum staff account is that all admin can view PM communications from that account. So for example, if someone is acting up, I could send a warning from that account and the other admins would be able to see it. If I sent it from my account, other admins could not. The reason the previous admins had stopped using their names is because people who were being banned/moderated were going "real world" trying to intimidate/threaten moderators who took action.

One benefit of using the main admin account is that it allowed us to **** out the users who were banned without a reason listed. The time period in Aug - Sept 2013, too many people had access to the admin account. Too many odd things were happening and there was no accountability. Going forward, accountability is something that is very important to us.

I realize reinstating users doesn't make up for what happened. If there was a way to go back and fix it, we would.

From posts I've read elsewhere, I suspect that it would only help if you were to buy them the services of a very high quality "******" service for a night or four. That might make them forget why they still have hurt feelings. These are very sensitive guys.

Hmmmm, it would definitely set a new standard in on-line reparations.

........only to have people complaining about the expense on the financial statement the following year.
