Most people let these car hibernate through the rainy months. Here in Oregon we have ethanol fuel, not sure if all states run this garbage, but if you can find a station that serves NON-ETHENAOL fuel, that way if they sit the fuel takes far longer to deteriorate.

Possibly to the door switch. In my 99 with the door partially open, the interior light comes on, and when you open the door all the way it goes out. Not sure if normal operation. But it definitely looks like a door plunger connector
