Dodged a bullet thanks to a leaky oil pan gasket!

Blew my Gen-IV motor a few months ago as a result of this. Coming out of a turn, a screw rolled into my timing chain, breaking the chain. Lots of damage...push rods, valves, cracked (ported) head. Block was bored .05 over to clean it up. Dodge receives these assemblies preassembled from a...

How much oil in Gen IV Oil/Filter Change

My '08 with a filter change takes 10 quarts.

    antifreeze

I recall the green antifreeze is corrosive to aluminum and it lacks chemicals that help to avoid electrolysis of the aluminum. In my other aluminum engines, I use the yellow stuff, which is anti-corrosive/friendly to aluminum, and has a lubricant for seals and such.

    Gen-IV Motor Mounts

Excellent, thank you all for the feedback. I heard that someone had them installed on an '08, and had to have the engine mounts replaced w. stock mounts as they were causing a CEL. Seemed odd, but maybe something else was happening, like jarring of a sensitive electrical connection. I'll give...

    Gen-IV Motor Mounts

Curious what experiences others have had using more rigid motor mounts on a Gen-IV? I have heard the added vibration throws a CEL, which I suspect is due to the knock sensors kicking in. Is this only with the stock PCM or is this also a problem with Venom?

Don't know, but I enjoyed eucharistos' post.

    New noise after track day.

Oh, I see now that you pointed out the sunken half (I probably need to cut back on the evening drinks, maybe I could then see better.) I'm sure you'll get some great advise from others, but I would do the leak down test, and if fine, and if the plug looks commensurate with the other plugs...

    New noise after track day.

I haven't seen this before and don't know. If that missing keeper was the source of the noise, I would have some concern that the valve guide saw abnormal wear, with possible damage to the valve seat. If I didn't see oil deposits on the plug, and if a leak down test was fine, then I would think...

Dan Cragin the VOI 11 Good Samaritan

<< IMHO Dan Cragin is a very special individual and if you live in So. Cal and do not have your Viper serviced by Dan you are doing yourself and your Viper a disservice.>> My experiences w. Dan and the DCP team have been fantastic. I'm now looking at expanding Dan's reach into Chevy and Ford...

    New noise after track day.

Maybe pull the valve cover having the noise and check for excessive play in the rocker/push rod.

    New noise after track day.

It would be nice if it were a lifter, but when putting it into first, you forced an over rev. which could have caused valve damage or a bent push rod (the latter would also cause the ticking sound.) I wouldn't drive it any more.

DCP Stage 3 Gen4 Viper Coupe **(Video)**

That's correct. Dan indicated the "blueprinting" didn't result in a material change in the overall compression from stock. I don't know why, but my ignition is getting ********, so I currently couldn't use any higher compression. Also heeding SRT's recommendations, the stock pistons would be a...

    Generation 4 Ported Heads 30RWHP!

Arrow Racing's ported intake did look good, and was advertised as contributing approx. 20 hp in gains. Having recently installed the Arrow intake a week prior to seeing DCP's ported intake on display during our SoCal club's recent Dyno Day at DCP, I could clearly see the added labor that went...

Using a Viper in a parade.

Your post reminded me of story that was posted a couple years back where someone had their Viper in a parade, and an Amish horse drawn cart passed too close to his car. The horse feeling the cart snag against the side of the Viper pulled harder, ripping the rear quarter side off his car. So...

Generation 4 Ported Heads/ Price and availability

My 3.33 gears would distort my numbers, but I suspect only slightly, as my hp/tq has been very close to other similarly modded Gen-IVs dynoed on the same day, gears being the only difference. DCP's dyno does indeed produce conservative numbers relative to other dynos in the SoCal area, based on...
