Thanks for the info. This was the second damper. The crank at the end was nearly 1/16 smaller than the base. When I get the engine back from Dodge should I have the dealer pull the damper and Locktite it or will Dodge do that now? Its still under factory warrenty so I don't want to modify anything.
I have 3 vipers and a Ram SRT-10 VCA edition. On my 2004 viper the crankshaft damper became loose and the dealer torque it back to spec and there has been no other issues. My Ram is a different story. Going to work the engine through the drive belt so I pulled over to check what whent wrong. The...
My VCA Ram SRT-10 get close to 19 MPG at 70 MPH in 6th gear, Around town its good for 9 to 10 MPG if you paly alot. Overall its more fun than any of my three vipers. Inside noiuse is very low unless you nail it.
I have had two plastic pulleys fail in the last 3 months. 96 GTS lost the power steering pulley at 8,900 miles. The 2004 Ram SRT-10 VCA addition lost the crank pulley at 4,500 mils. The truck is a real bear when the pulley fails. I think Dodge should replace all plastic pulleys with metal like...
Could be one of the plastic pulleys failing. I had one go on my 96 GTS power steering pump and had the crank pulley let go on my 04 Ram SRT-10. They make a funny noise when they start to let go. Mine started as a snapping sound and quickly went to sort of a squeaky rattle.
I have had two plastic pullies fail within the last 3 months. One on my 2004 Ram SRT-10 crank and one on my 96 GTS power steering. Both times the hub cam out of the pully.
Well I have 4976 mile on my VCA Ram SRT-10 and what a supprise I had on the way home from work. While rounding a corner the belt pully on the crank failed and I lost all accessories. The Ram is a real handful without power stearing. Seems like the center of the plastic pully came undone. I came...
Well there isn't any bolt. Its a plastic pulley and it failed at the hub. I think the gen 3 engines have a metal one. there wan no indication that anything was wrong until it just quit!!! Very bad failure mode. No noise or other indication.
I took my 96 GTS to work today and recived a very unpleasent exciting ride. I live in a country area where the road winds back to our home for some 3 miles. As I was motoring along all of sudden the power steering quit and I was close to loosing the car in the ditch. It take quite a bit of force...
I have three Vipers and a Ram SRT-10 VCA Edition #33 and find it to be a great drive. The Vipers are truly in a league of their own but so is the Ram in its own respect. I find it meet my needs as a daily driver offering some flexability to carry things as needed with great performance. The...
