Hey guys,

I filled my clutch reservoir due to it being empty. I went with what the cap label said and used DOT3. However now reading through some old threads, DOT4 was the fluid to use. Will I be fine now that I used 3, or can I somehow get the 3 out and refill with 4? My reservoir was completely empty. Car is a 09 ACR. Thanks guys.

3 shouldn't hurt anything, it would just boil sooner if you are pushing it really hard. For regular daily driving I don't think you'd notice a difference. You could always crack the bleeder and let the DOT 3 gravity bleed out to get most of it, then refill with DOT 4, but getting the slave cylinder bled can be a pain sometimes. Gravity and patience are usually your friend though.

DOT 5 is the stuff to avoid - DOT 3 should be okay
for daily use. Youre best bet is to flush the system
though - its not that difficult, if you cant, any good
mechanic can in a couple of hours...
