I just took my wife's 95 to COTA. It has Roe high flows and 3" bullet muffllers and it was loud! It has always been obnoxious (heh, heh), but it hurt my ears that day even with a helmet on.
You may want to go with a 2.5" system. Maybe some 2.5" stainless round mufflers (not bullet). You...
Treesnake,
Did COTA come after you for $1250/ft for that armco you smashed? Just wondering how tough COTA is going to be and if its going to be worth risking going to the track if they're gonna be all pissy about their stuff.
My '95 has a leak at the schraeder valve. Dodge only wants to sell me the whole line, but I sure would like to replace just the valve if I could find the right one. I bought a pair from Advance Auto, but they don't fit.
If anyone knows where I can get the proper schraeder valve I would sure...
I am always having to go on a long drive in my Jeep SRT to get it to pass. 60mph for 6 minutes or something like that to allow the computer to check all nec parameters.
slither,
Those 3.55 gears are gonna knock a few hp off your car due to increased friction over 3.07s. I've seen 5, sometimes 10hp due to the 3.55s.
Also, my '97 made more and more hp the more I abused it. You'd think that car was a red-headed stepchild! It liked lots of track time and miles.
GTS001,
I had some rear clothespin latches off a gen I softtop, and I made and aluminum adapter plate to set it in place. Not sure of the alignment, as I need to have the front hardware in place before I can check that.
I've been looking at the front situation more and more. I'm gonna try to...
Do you have a damaged or abused hardtop? I would like to buy it or the parts off of it (latches and maybe other stuff) gen 2 preferred, but I could probably work with gen 1.
let me know what you've got.
thanks
I also run the cups 295/345 on my car, but 18s all around. fit just fine. I've got 11" wheels up front, but don't see a problem with 10" wheels either.
Well, nothing really panned out for me over the past week so I bit the bullet and ordered a set of pistons from ROE. And they do NOT come with rings:rolleyes:
Lots of thanks to Will over at RSI for turning his shop upside down trying to help me out.
I wanted to put .001 mains back in my engine, but the crank grinder went off on his own and ground it without even talking to me! And this is supposed to be a decent shop, too (about 100 miles away from where I live but they have weekly pickup and delivery in Austin). Even if they do good...
According to Archer Racing, sometimes the 3/4 rod bearings don't get enough pressure (they have a fix for that however-tapping and running an extra oil line from somewhere secret to somewhere secret). I was running full oil level, had the trap door oil pan. Car overheated 2 yrs ago on the...
Ellow,
good to know about the rings with the Roe pistons. The website should def. mention that.
I've got a couple people investigating their used-but-not-abused stuff as well. Will from RSI thinks he may have a set of 3.995 or 4.000 CP pistons that were hardly used. I need good...
I am looking to purchase a set of forged pistons for my 488. The shop says my block looks good. I could probably go with stock size 3.995 piston/ 4.000 bore or go +.005 4.000piston/4.005 bore. 4 out of 10 of my old pistons have hairline cracks in the skirts. Not sure how that happened.
Roe...
I saw it, but didn't pay attention to it. I probably wouldn't have noticed my head missing...
I guess I was more interested in the forums than the "pretty" stuff.
I've had my '95 for 13 years. Its actually my wife's, but I drive it more than she does. I love the sound of the sidepipes (3" race mufflers, Roe cats, bellanger headers) and the "simple" cockpit. If I ever trade it for a 2001-02 (for the windows), then I will def have to put sidepipes on...
Seems like a lot of work to save a few thousand bucks. Considering you can find a similar-mileage gen2 engine maybe you can work out a trade plus maybe $3-5000. The work on both sides will prob need to be done by DIYer else it doesn't make sense. I don't see the logistics of everything...
Lots of responses here overnight. This is a hot subject.
I posted because I was surprised that a business set up for viper owners by viper owners would charge a 20% restocking fee. I understand credit card returns as I have my own business, but I do not charge my customers my processing fees...
Last week I ordered some parts from Viper Parts of America. One of the parts I ordered was a main bearing set .010 under for my GTS. I ordered it because it was on "closeout" and was about 1/2 of what I could get it from other internet sources. I went ahead and ordered a few gaskets at the...
Shimming is done to achieve correct geometry. Correct geometry should be the goal with any rocker change. I would expect that 95% of applications would NOT require shimming. Switching to longer valves would be one good reason to shim your rockers (+.100 is a common viper size replacement...
Only pricey because he had viper techs doing the work. IF you want something cheaper, break out your own tool box and do it yourself! You can do it. Its just a 6.2L with a couple of extra cylinders...
