Greg, thanks for your response, but I don't think an air bubble in the line is an issue. I completely change my brake fluid before every track event, and I alternate between ATE Super Blue and ATE Amber so that I know when I have completely flushed the lines. And I have had two different sets...
Mark, thanks for the response. Regarding the color change on the calipers, I don't know whether it is baked-on brake dust or that the paint got "cooked," but whatever it is won't come off! And the brake fluid did not boil -- I was using brand-new Motul that day and the pedal was firm and the...
Hey everyone,
I have a 2006 Coupe that goes to about 4-5 track days per year. I have a brake issue that I want to get your opinions on.
Last summer, I did a track day in really hot weather -- so hot that my red front calipers turned a brownish red from the heat. I noticed afterward that...
Thanks, Jared, I am very relieved that this problem has finally been resolved. Thank you guys for jumping on it immediately and fixing it quickly. See you next weekend.
Thanks Robert! If you really want a high-res version, PM me. I have the original file, since I took the shot with my camera. The original is probably 3500 pixels wide or so.
These were taken November 2 -- we had a great, mid-70's day in Talladega. Now it has gotten really cold in Atlanta, and I doubt we will get another track day in before March ... :(
Thanks! Linh (Achilles99) has a 24x36 enlargement of that shot in his office, I liked it too.
Juli, thanks, I really liked that one too. Great light and a great day at the track!
Re: Weigh In: What you think About This Snakeskin Green Coupe with Matching Asanti Wh
Jared, I like SSG, particularly the ones with stripes, but I am not a fan of those wheels. Maybe I can see it in person next time I am up there.
Chris
This past weekend, Achilles99 and I did a track event at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway in Alabama. Here are a few pics of the action ...
Both cars performed well, and the track was a lot of fun. Hope you like the pictures!
Chris
Ray, welcome to the club and the VCA forum! Just like you, we have also had several Corvettes (including a Z06), and my wife still drives a Corvette as her daily driver. I like Corvettes, but I have LOVED my Vipers! Congratulations and enjoy!
Chris
I am hoping that someone can assist me in trying to fix a noise coming out of the right rear suspension of my 06 coupe. The noise sounds like a creaking or popping noise and seems to occur when the right rear suspension is unloading, like when I apply the brakes or when transitioning in or out...
As a follow-up to this discussion, Achilles99 from this Forum and I installed the RB1 and Mopar iPod connector in my 06 coupe this weekend. It worked perfectly and the install was very easy. Thanks to Dan Lesser for the great instructions on the install!
Chris
I have bought both an RB1 and the MOPAR iPod kit, although I have not installed them yet, but the cables came with the iPod kit. I bought the kit from Dan Lesser at Viper Specialty Performance, give him a call and I am sure he can answer any question you have about the parts or the install...
Hey there Chad! I think I met you at an autocross event several years ago and thanks for the message. I am sending you a PM about joining the VCA.
Chris
I am pleased to say that after three years of being without a Viper, I am back in the saddle again with a black/silver '06 coupe! :drive:
I drive my Viper every day, so most of my miles are on the road, but I do occasional track days and autocross events. I remember very well that with my...
I looked at putting some on the rears and concluded that the scoops would be too close to the exhaust pipes, so I did not put them on the rear wheels.
On the question about holes, I am not totally sure (JD Farmer put mine on). I don't have a lift, so I can't take pictures, sorry.
I bought mine from my local Porsche dealer. I think they cost about $20. There is a tread on the Viper Forum that lists the part numbers (they contain the number "993"), so do a search and you will be able to find it.
I don't have any pictures, but mine are tie-wrapped to the front lower control arms of my front suspension. I have seen Cone kits before and I don't think it would be incompatible, but the Cone kit would be so much more effective at cooling than the Porsche scoops, I am not sure why you would...
I went and looked for it too, but didn't see one. Meanwhile GM had someone speaking over the loudspeakers bragging about the new Z06 and showing it off. What a contrast.
