Re: Vehicle Inspection Frustration (warning: long but possibly entertaining read):Hou
I no longer bother to have my vehicle inspected. Nor do I affix my registration sticker to the front windshield. I refuse to hang a front plate, even though I carry the clip on in the rear hatch.
Pulled...
BTW You may also want to look into a Bear Tracker. It sounds more like what you need. It is a proximity warning device. The input for the device is the radio repeater signal from the patrol car to the shoulder mounted radio michrophone the patrolmen wear on their uniforms. When a broadcast goes...
Radar detectors are only useful in one circumstance:
1. You are following someone who is speeding on the open highway and you have a radar detector.
In this circumstance, the single most important feature is the ability to pick up a signal very early, perhaps when the speeder ahead gets a...
Rare..........usually equated into a percentage of population. So you need to pick a numerator and a denominator to get there.
As a percentage of the Viper population, not rare.
As a percentage of vehicles on the road, very rare.
Compared to other Vipers colors, less rare. I don't know how...
Re: ***No More Viper After 2009??***
I believe he said ROI, not profits. Profits on revenue determine ROI. If the ROI is not up to snuff in a certain segment, the bean counters start focusing on you and asking" why are we doing this?" and then there goes long term credit structure and insurance...
I'd advise against buying a home in Houston on less than a 10 year stint. Home appreciation is negligible, even over several years' time. Taxes run 3-4% of your assessed value annually. You can rent something for close to what you pay on insurance and taxes for a decent home, and you don't have...
Does the SRT have the same polar moment of interia as the GTS? I am not certain, but I think you can only bolt on so much before physics takes over. I still like my GTS though.
Gears multiply torque.
Full Stop.
This is always true, everywhere on the planet Earth.
Torque multiplication is very useful until you are in your power band, that is to say, in low rpm situations. Once rpms come up, you have the power you need.
So, the short gears are good in first...
Tricks are for kids.
GTS dated? If you believe that, you haven't lived long enough.
Full Stop.
I think the SRT looks dated. The automakers have a 8-10 year revolving design cue, angular to curve. Similar to bell bottoms, they'll all be back.
Gears multiply torque. A quick glance at the V10 torque curve should explain why long legs fit in the viper better. It has plenty of torque from low end rpms, so not much need to multiply. Once RPMs come up, the low gears just get in your way and make you shift more.
If you are towing heavy...
I thought we were talking about value, not investment potential? I think everyone knows a car is not an investment, rather a placement of capital into a depreciating physical asset, for whatever reason.
Now, back at the ranch, what is the value of a car? What a reasonable buyer would expect to...
This is about value, not investment. Anyone coming to this board loooking for investment advice is a lunatic. Dealers lowball, only way to make ROI. Most deals they get are trades or auction. Every once in a while they can find someone down on their luck and in a hurry. I notice you stated he...
Ok, I'll be the spoiler. I don't care how much they are selling for. I already have one, and I'm keeping and DRIVING it. I can put as many miles on it as I want, because I am never selling it. I said it before, and I'm saying it again. Never.
If my car had cats removed, it would have emitted exactly the same amount of VOCs and Nox as if they had not been removed over the last 2 month period.
Cats are for daily drivers.
NASCAR doesn't run cats, nor does my lawn mower, weed eater, or the neighbor's bulldozer.
I am speechless. That's a lot of stuff to piece back together. If I was independently wealthy, single, and basically had nothing else to do, I'd be coming over to put mine on blocks beside yours and take it all apart.
Do you drink? I hope so, you're going to need one before you finish all that...
Gears multiply torque, which is handy at low rpms when power is down. (unless you have a Viper with tons of torque already) Once rpms come up and power is available, the gears get in the way. That's when you want some gears with legs, not grunt.
Paying taxes does not bother me near as much as what they do with the money after it goes out my door. If I could actually get some level of efficient benefit from them, I'd pay more. As it is, they waste over half of everything you give them on bureaucracy and protecting useless positions...
