Gen 3 - Crankshaft pulley bolt --add me to the list.

The damper must be seated all the way before torquing the bolt. There is a tool to do this. Trying to pull the damper on with the bolt will not bottom it. That is why it comes loose. It wasn't assembled properly.

Troubling Dyno results for Stock 2006???

How high were the intake charge temperatures? The engine becomes more knock sensitive with elevated temperatures and pulls spark and adds fuel to compensate. If I remember correctly this starts to happen about 95 degrees F intake charge temp. Chassis dynos are notorious for not having...

Hennessey 2008 ACR in One Lap of America ..... looking good !!!!

Chris unhooked the rear swaybar for the wet skid pad and he is deeply regretting it. The car oversteered badly resulting in the poor performance. But he is a man possessed and with some help will knock Davia off the top of the heap.

Yes, specifically what I've mentioned is about the '08.

2008 Long tube headers need tuned ??

After working on these engines for the last couple of years I would venture to say that you should be able to pull some fuel out, maybe quite a bit, at top end with headers. I never got the chance to run any headers but I would expect them to want the exhaust cam timing to have an earlier...

Im doing the comp coupe cam

Never,EVER put a cam in without degreeing it in (unless it's your lawnmower). There can be significant power to be had so make sure it is correct. A stock '00-'06 cam should have the intake centerline at 120-122. You will find a lot of them at 127-128 and it kills the torque curve down low...

08 Viper parts work on 03-06 Vipers?

The engine is basically the same design but many features are very different. The fasteners are now all metric. The pushrod angle has changed. The lifter bores have rotated upward with respect to the cam bore centerline to straighten out the pushrod angle. The oil pump is larger and the way...

    08 forged bottom end ??

No, it does not. It uses the piston/rod assemblies from the 6.1L Hemi.

Press may not be nice to the 08 viper

I ran into a couple of writers today from C&D magazine at my new place of employment. I asked how their tests went on the '08 Viper and they said it's the fastest car they've tested. They didn't elaborate on that but I want to see the article next month. There will be another Viper...

Should I Upgrade to an 08

I've driven the '08 before I retired and it is definitely a better driver than the '06. The transmission is so nice compared to the earlier cars. And the engine is well behaved at low speeds and when you unleash it with the throttle hang on. It pulls strong right to the rev limiter. The...

    2008 Detail information

The exhaust manifolds could be better but the package is very tight when installing the powertrain into the vehicle. A lot of work went into optimizing the design but there is no comparison to a set of headers. Some engine calibration work will be needed to run headers on this package...

    dyno numbers........the king lives

I'm sorry I let the cars out with that tune but I can't let the cats meltdown. You folks need to remember that air/fuel ratio is rich for a reason not because SRT is getting kickbacks from OPEC. If you hold the engine at WOT @ 6000 rpm until the EGT's stabilized (it takes about 60 seconds or so)...

    Best A/F Ratio

I've just retired from the SRT group after doing Viper calibration work for the last two series of engines and here is how it is done; The best A/F ratio to use will be the one that makes the most power, typically between 12.5 - 12.8, WHILE keeping the EGT's under 1600-1650 degrees at the...

    alignment specs and Oil Filter

I did an awful lot of work to resolve the oil system issues for the 2006 engine and this new filter 05037836AA is the outcome. The 090 just does not do the job for the Viper with its high oil flow rate.

    alignment specs and Oil Filter

The correct Viper oil filter is 05037836AA. I highly recommend this filter for any Viper.

    alignment specs and Oil Filter

I did a lot of filter testing last year on the Auburn Hills dyno after some problems arose. A different filter is spec'd for the'06 Viper.
