Who really cares what anyone else thinks! I financed mine and had it paid off in less than 4 years and I am damn proud to own it. As long as the seller gets paid, shouldn't make any difference to them.

Based on an article I read in SCCA mag, they all have to pass the safety tests to get a snell rating. A lot of what you are paying for is features.
More expensive helmets may come w/ better padding, better materials like CF, but Snell doesn't issue levels of safety ratings. It either passes...
I do the same. The wear becomes visibly evident as to which tires pull more duty after a few track days. In my opinion, it's just good common sense. :2tu:
Also, even if you get an open face helmet, in most cases you are required to wear shatter proof eye protection. For that reason, you might as well get the full face.
Many of the racing orgs are beginning to mandate hans devices now. NASA just started enforcing it as well for this year.
I was thinking about getting a G-Force helmet, but I am really liking the Simpson Bandit. Which isn't bad for under $400.

I live near Denver and drive mine w/ PS2's in below freezing temps and have had no problems. But I also am not mashing on the gas and taking turns at high speeds in those conditions either. I think it is all in how you drive it.
