Looking for a Gen IV, quick questions...

I purchased my extended warranty less than 2 months prior to when the factory warranty was going to expire. I paid $1,814 for 7years/60,000miles no deductible. With $250 deductible I think the cost would have gone down to under $1500. Very affordable IMHO. -Make sure you get a genuine OEM...

FWIW, while researching this I also found out why the Optimas can be troublesome: Apparently the cells in the current Optimas are not as well balanced as in the Odyssey. Consequently, if you let an Optima discharge too much, one of the cells may permanently reverse in polarity and your battery...

Yes, I finally decided on the Odyssey. I'm sure the DieHard Platinum and X2 Power are very good batteries too, but they're gray and I did not want to mess around with spray paint. The Odyssey is black with red top - perfect match for my red '08.

Just found out that the Enersys batteries (DieHard Platinum and Odyssey) have TIN PLATED BRASS TERMINALS. So it's not lead terminals at all... Makes me think the non-plated terminals of the X2 Power are no better. All the batteries are pretty much equal on this point. The shiny brass terminals...

And the main disadvantage is the color. The Platinum requires that you bring out a can of black spray paint to make the battery "invisible".

To summarize: Sears DieHard Platinum (made by Enersys): $210, Gray, 4 year warranty (no pro rata), 100-month prorating Batteries Plus X2 Power (made by Northstar): $235, Gray/Blue top, 5 year warranty (no pro rata), Brass posts instead of classic lead posts Odyssey (made by Enersys): $284...

    ultima battery??'s

Yes, I thought so, but there appears to be a third option: The BatteriesPlus X2 Power AGM batteries are made by Northstar. Pricewise it's right inbetween DieHard and Odyssey... An advantage with the X2 Power is that it has brass posts instead of the traditional lead posts. Unfortunately it's...

    ultima battery??'s

Yes, they work fine until they explode and ruin the painwork (first battery) or leak acid causing a bad connection that stalls the engine while you're making a turn with oncoming traffic (second battery). No more Duralasts for me, thank you.

    ultima battery??'s

I was going to go with the DieHard PLATINUM AGM, since it seems to be an excellent choice. However, my local Sears was out of stock and I did not want to drive an hour or two to another store. Since I knew the Platinum is made by Odyssey, I started looking into that too and came to the...

I stay away from the Duralast Gold. Autozone's warranty is good, but the battery is not. I put one in my Mustang and it *exploded* after 3 years and the acid ruined the paintwork under the hood around the battery. I got a free battery replacement from Autozone no questions asked, but in 2 years...

Do Vipers Attract Tailgaters and Aggressive Drivers?

Agree 100%. It's called the "Jante Law". You are not allowed to have anything that I don't have and vice versa. Jante Law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia :usa:

    Skip shift eliminator works!

This is the 250 ohm version that I've had no problems with: These are the versions that possibly have issues. The two I purchased (but never used) were both 20 ohm:

    Skip shift eliminator works!

I believe that when I see it. That's exactly what people are saying about the '08 too. I think it all boils down to the fact that all CAGS eliminators are not created equal: Some CAGS eliminators are in the ~20 ohm range (typical eBay product), others are in the ~200 ohm range, and supposedly...

Of course it works. Been using one on the '08 for 2 years now.

Convertible Top - Raising and Lowering

The latch is supposed to keep the top from pressing against the trunk lid and creating visible marks in the top... Worked fine in my '06, but in the '08 the trunk lid does press on the left side and has created a visible ~3" long mark in the top fabric on the left side...

    ACR paint issue

My 2006 was absolutely flawless with amazing paint job and no OP. However, my 2008 has much worse orange peel than any of my Corvettes had (and OP is "standard" on Corvettes - or at least used to be) My 2008 also has a couple very small pin-sized spots where the base color shines through...

Hard launch in ACR (1.64 60') locks me out of 2nd or 3rd gear!

FWIW, I have not seen any problems with my 250 ohm skip shift eliminator in my '08. (Being an electrical engineer, I can't see how the computer would reliably be able to detect the difference between a resistor and a solenoid coil, unless Chrysler spent some serious development on prohibiting...
