    dash crack

Been out of warranty for about a year so warranty not an issue at this point. Just looking for the most practical/cost effective way to fix it. Chuck Tator said it is quite a job to remove it (the dash top) and a new one is mucho dolleros just for the part. So might be best to attempt a...

    dash crack

Thanks to everyone who replied. I 've been away a couple of days. Here are replies to a few comments that were posted. MJORGENSEN: No razor ever near the right side of dash. Stickers are on drivers side anyway in NY and I personally remove inspection stickers, registration, etc. I can...

    dash crack

I just noticed the top of the dash of my '04 SRT-10 has a crack on the passenger side parallel to the side of the car about 3 inches long approx. 10" from the A post. Car has only 3K miles and never sat parked in sun more than a couple of hours, stored at all times in climate controlled garage...

    What is "cam-in-cam" technology?

Good write up on Viper "cam-in-cam" technology on page 31 of latest Viper Quarterly (Summer '07). Also a real good article in Road and Track magazine (August '07) on page 107 addressing a host of different "variable-valve" technologies and which manufacturers are using what.

    Strange noise while idling.

Dan, Been on vacation. Finally got it on a lift. Found the problem: The heat shield for the passenger side exhaust header was contacting the vehicle frame. The engine vibration was being conducted to the shield and a corresponding rub on the frame causing a sqawkiing sound after wearing...

    Strange noise while idling.

Ran car late this afternoon in the 85 degree heat. The noise is still there. I don't believe is balancer. Used a stethoscope on engine. Seems more pronounced on right side engine exhaust header. I'm leaning towards something contacting exhaust system on engine side of flex. Need to get on...

    Strange noise while idling.

Dan, I tested the car early this morning. Noise is gone. But it's only 50 degrees here this AM (near Rochester, not far from you) so I'll test it again when 80+ later today to be certain. (Want all conditions exactly the same as when normally hear it). Looked at the service manual. So...

    Strange noise while idling.

Well, I don't know if you consider this loose or not. It certainly wasn't finger loose, but I had to ratchet it approximately half a turn before 130 lb-ft was reached. May have been 50 lb-ft.? I didn't want to wake the neighbors at 1 AM so I'll start it up tomorrow to see if that cured it...

    Strange noise while idling.

Checked the belt: like new, tight, automatic belt tensioner seems normal. Not the fan. Doesn't matter if AC on or off. No mods, completely stock. Slight increase of engine RPM's makes go away. Only happens at idle. Approximately one squawk per second on average but irregular in timing...

OK, whats the deal with the vette wave?

I had a guy in a silver C6 give me three quick flashes of the hi-beams, then a friendly wave today while in my SRT-10 on a quiet rural state highway. I think he was just being a nice guy and saying "nice car". I reciprocated. BTW, my plate reads NOTVETTE to prevent such misunderstandings.

    Strange noise while idling.

I have a stange noise coming from my '04 SRT-10. 2300 miles, never tracked or raced (yet). Noise just started. I would describe it as a squeek but its lower in frequency so I will call it more of a squawk. It occurs when engine idling whether clutch in while in gear or clutch out in neutral when...

    Reliable enclosed transporter?

Anyone know of a reliable, top shelf auto transporter (enclosed only) that could transport a car from San Francisco area to upstate NY? Thanks.

    Gas fill up problem

Tom, F&L: Thanks, I'll check that out (kinked vent hose), if I can figure out how to gain access to it. Something to do this winter on a snowy Saturday afternoon. We had the first road salt application here in upstate NY last night, so Viper hibernation has officially begun as of today...

    Gas fill up problem

Glad you asked that. I have the same problem with my '04 SRT-10. Does not matter where I fill up, the angle of the car relative to horizontal, the angle of the nozzle or how much fuel is in tank, can only "drizzle" the gas in without the nozzle cutting off. Been like this since day one. Any...

Top Gear Video Review of the SRT-10

This is the video review by Top Gear of the SRT-10. He calls it a "Psycho Car" but really cannot understand why emotionally he likes it, when his British logic says he shouldn't. Its a cool video. I especially like the part where the SRT-10 "writes its own name". Check it out...
