After a couple of year hiatus, I'm back in the Viper community. Thanks Andy! I bought his '01 ACR.
I'm looking for a set of used 18" rims for the track and a line on any slightly used R-compound tires. Please message me if you have any you're looking to sell.
I have heard that the assembly on the Gen1 is much harder than the Gen2, making the cut more of a pain. JonB should sell the brake relocation parts for DBB kit.
If you are just looking for some added bling, Tom sells a pair of caliper covers in matching colors that may do the job cheaply.
Nicely flat torque curve. Did you tune the car or run it with a stock tune? The A/F looks very lean to me. Just under 13 is the target for best HP. By way of reference, my Gen1 just put down 440RWHP with heads/CAM and fully stock exhaust and a conservative timing tune. Prior to my last...
Here is what I did for a complete setup on my '95. Yours should be the same. You could pick pieces of the process you want. I went this route because I wanted to keep everything in the stock locations and not consume my trunk with AMP and SUB. It doesn't have the punch of a large sub system...
Sorry for the inbox being full. Please try again if you got a bounce. All the items above are still available.
The hard top has been sold. Thanks for asking.
I've got several take off parts from my Gen1 that I'm selling separate from the car. I've got the car listed in the VCA classifieds. I just lowered the price on the car, as I'd to sell it before I relocate.
PM me if you're interested in any of the following parts
- 65MM Gen1 Throttle Bodies...
If you are staying with 17" rims, get Tom's rear upgrade and stay with it. You'll probably not need any more rear braking than that offers.
If you are going with 18" or larger rims, get the SRT front conversion. It is by far the best option for your money, especially on a non-ABS car. I did...
Shoot me a PM. I've got the setup you are talking about on my '95. It's got all the goodies and heads/CAM/intake by Greg. I've also got a set of Edelbrock headers and 65MM Accufabs that I'm selling.
My Gen1 had the following mods and achieved 480RWHP. I'd be surprised to see a Gen1 with a 708 CAM and stock compression get past 500RWHP. At 9.0:1, the Gen1 ratio isn't very high by HP per L standards.
GG heads - stock compression. 305CFM intake flow
1.7 RR
708 CAM
Ported Intake
65MM TB's...
The best bang for the buck is to go SRT front and Tom's upgrade in the rear. If you want a similar look, you can get a caliper cover from him in matching color to the front SRT calipers. It's not the full on bling factor, but you can be in for a brake setup that will perform as good as almost...
Greg got to my heads in ~2 months from drop off to pick up on both occasions, including some extenuating circumstances that could have easily added to that time. If you tell him you've got a deadline, I've found him to be very realistic with his estimates on getting the work done.
The other...
I purchased 2 RV leveling jacks. I then built some extended, flat surface arms with angle iron that would contact the frame points, and then bolted them to the leveling jack. For $100, I could lift the car 4 wheels off using my impact wrench and 3/4" socket.
The code reader for the Gen1 is tough to find, because it is not OBD2. You might be able to find a local Viper savy shop that has a reader.
O2 Sensors might be one guess. I believe that the car is in open loop until it warms up a bit, then enters closed loop. At that point, faulty O2 sensors...
My job situation is changing and I'm going to be unable to spend time with the car for a while. :( I'm debating selling the car, rather than leave it in the garage without getting used. I'd like to get some opinions on pulling the performance parts off vs selling them with the car. I think...
I have had Aldans on my Gen1 for the past 4 years. They have seen a lot of work. I have had to have two rebuilt. However, they carry a lifetime warranty that Aldan has been perfect with me on. No questions asked, just ship the shock back. It's also very easy to take the shock off on a Gen1...
I can't count the number of times I've called Chuck to order a small, hard to get part and learned a bunch of new tricks. Today when I called to order a rear main seal, he gave me several tips on how to make the change out on the slave cylinder easy. He's also cutting a gasket that is no...
Do you have a service manual? If you do, you can look at the wiring diagrams to see where the key to starter connections are located. If you look by the remote POS location at the front driver side, you'll see a 3 pin connector. One of those pins is a lead to the starter POS. If you connect...
