I remember the '97 Vipers very well. Quite possibly my favourite model year after '96. The '97 carries sentimental value to me as well:
My first Viper brochure/catalog among other things:
I was 10 yrs old at the time in a wheelchair for a few months due to slipping on black ice, and...
I have a couple pictures of a Stryker Red GTS w/ Track Pack from my recent run to just see a '13.
-EDIT: I just looked at the ad. That is the car, and I know EXACTLY where it is. Not affiliated with the dealer.
I remember reading all about when you were in the process of getting the car. At that time I wasn't posting on here though. Happy to hear you're back in a GEN II....where you belong. Just get rid of the wing lol! In all seriousness, a dealer near me had the '96 RT/10 from the Vegas Vacation...
Thank you FinalEd! Sort of Viper related: I got to meet two of Joe Perry's kids last summer...they opened for us as we were headlining. Long story short, they remember #357.
In all honesty, who cares about the age of the owner? Whether you're 27 or 72, everybody loves and appreciates the Viper...unless you're an auto magazine!
Its funny you mention the price of the cars when new Jeff...When I walked into the dealer back in 1998 and saw their brand new silver RT/10, I remember reading the price to the tune of $96,500. Let's all hope the younger owners of the gen I/II cars treat them well, and bring back the beaten.
Also, look at the price of a Viper when they are/were new. I don't want to be rude or anything, but for some individuals a little older than others; a brand new Viper is a little easier to afford. These individuals like mentioned in previous replies may have a little more disposable income. I...
With all of this being said, would you say despite the shorter gears and more power, this is an easier Viper to drive not at its limits, but easier to drive in general?
LOL Vipuronr, I'm not one to discriminate against red Vipers. Heck, the '89 proto, '91 pace car and all '92s were red..the original colour.
(even though the VM-01 concept was eggshell white)

It's hard to insult one of these cars...even if its red and the driver is a jerk. I've calmed down, and hopefully I'll run into somebody whom appreciates their car before the snakes go into hibernation.
I expect that type of behaviour from a Ferrari owner. Viper owners are the nicest group of people out there. Having been a passenger in many for various occasions and speaking to the guys and gals that drive them, I have experience. Viper owners are car people that love cars.
In closing, I hope...
It wasn't a car show or anything I was at. Just grabbing an afternoon coffee at Tim Hortons.
Caesar, you're in my backyard! Didn't realize some of you are so close....sorry Matt AKA Nitro187, you've been beat!
No, I wasn't looking like a homeless panhandler with a cardboard sign. I take everything with a grain of salt, but never have I heard or exhibited these mannerisms from a Viper owner. It was just shocking. As for Fatboy's question if I am an owner: I'm not. It is on my list of things to do...
Wow! So I was minding my own business on Saturday at a coffee shop near my house. Somebody in a red/silver '98 GTS (17" rims and before the newer interior pieces) pulls up. I went up to him and complimented him on his car. It's the polite thing to do. Didn't say anything rude or act crazy, but...
