Roy,
I make a paper pattern first which is the hardest part of the job. I first lay out narrow tape on the hood to out line where the edge of the stripe will be then I use pieces of tracing paper, which I attach together, attached to the hood over the stripe area and follow the outline of the...
sssammm,
I used a spray can. It's Dupli-color Engine enamel DE 1650 Aluminum. I scrubbed down the covers with a Scotch Brite pad and a little Lacquer thinner and then wiped it down with some Naphtha.
Silver paint is very easy to spray, I guess it is the pigment that is used. You have to be...
The front Viper badge is taped on. Cut through the tape using some heavy fishing line, then clean off the remaining tape. You can buy the body tape and reapply the Badge.
I striped my hood using vinyl. I like using vinyl because it can be removed if you get tired of the stripe. I striped my previous Viper and when I sold the hood to a forum member he removed the vinyl to his taste.
I added the script to the side of the stripe because I think it gives it a more...
It was more work than I planned but they are painted and installed.
I have a green car and didn't like the red valve covers. I thought about painting them body color but decided to do them in silver and I am happy with the look.
Here are the pictures.
SANCHOBA,
Your engine looks great.
The red works for most colors. I just don't like red with green.
I also painted my calipers black.
I'm doing the valve covers in silver to match the intake. I'm waiting on some new gaskets so I can put things back together.
sssammm,
Thanks.
I did it a little different than you but I got it off, after that it was easy. Hope I can remember how all of this stuff goes together once the valve covers are painted.
Thanks.
That is the direction I'm going, but it appears you have to remove at least the passenger side wiper arm. I removed the wiper arm nut but can't get the arm to release from the shaft. Looks like I may have to make up some kind of puller. I was able to get the air box loose but I have...
I have a green car and red valve covers which don't look good to me. I decided to paint them. Removing them from the car has turned out to be a big job.
Has anyone here removed their valve covers on a Gen 4. Mine is a 2010.
The injector harness was a pain but got them off. I have removed...
I installed the dummy solenoid about two months ago. Didn't have to drop the belly pan. Easy fix. Have not driven the car much because of the season, it has worked fine with no problems.
PeterMJ, I would be interested on how this goes for you. I have ordered the part but I'm waiting for the car to get delivered. I would be great if you would report back here.
Thanks
I was looking into this car weeks ago, dealing with the AZ owner. He offered me the car for $65,000 but I wasn't sold on the Aero package. I suggested he fix CARFAX by having the person send a notorized letter explaining the error, last I checked the CARFAX has been corrected.
I used a heat gun with the visors removed from the car. You have to get them hot but be carefull. The label is really hot when you start to peel it off, so you wont be able to hold onto the label very long but keep at it and it will come off. Once off, I think I cleaned the spot with alcohol...
I recently sold my 2003 to a forum member and in the process of selling my 08 hood to another forum member.
I'm sure this is a long shot but will give this a try.
I'm very fussy about condition, color and stripes.
Looking for a SSG Conv with NO STRIPES or a SSG Coupe with no stripes but...
Well I wasn't really ready right now but this is the way I would prefer to sell a car. Been thinking about a restro rod car or maybe nothing at all. I will be 67 soon and I'm running out of the energy to take care of these cars the way they need taken care of because I can't stand to see them...
