Hey Guys.
I've been passively selling my Viper for a while now with many tire kickers who are not thrilled with how loud it is. I'm considering going back to a full stock exhaust and removing the VEC1, kind of putting it back to "somewhat stock" for easier sale or trade-in. WIth the VEC1 and...
I had a similar issue and chased my tail for a while. I'm doing this from memory but I believe it was the hi/lo fan relay if I'm not mistaken. The issue that made it difficult to idenitfy was regardless of temperature, the car needed to be running for the fan to come on. I would put the key on...
I'll give you my assessment. I have a coolant smell most if not all the time. I actually took the front fascia off thinking it was the overflow bottle on the passenger's side under the light to find that the overflow bottle was fine but is vented to the atmosphere. I really smell it when I drive...
So the Viper is back alive and have I learned a valuable lesson. First off, you definitely need shop manuals (which I have), including the owner's manual (which I don't have). Secondly, don't use your nose to diagnose the problem, use the forums and listen to the first person to reply...THANK...
I was by myself the day I was diagnosing the car and couldn't pop a plug wire off, check for speak and turn the key and I didn't want to jump the relay and short something out! I'll def take a look at it in the next few days. Thanks to everyone for your advice.
I figured when I went forced induction I'd go AEM or otherwise and didn't assume it would $hit the bed on me! Im not a fan of this thing either but it seems to work fine for a car thats virtually stock with exhaust work and some minor stuff.
Thanks 2000ACR. The vec 1 gets t-tapped into the stock harness under the dash and at the PCM, the stock harness does not get plugged into it. I'm going to do some troubleshooting in next few days when I have some time but here's my question. I'm getting Fuel for sure in the smell from the...
Hey guys. Just back from traveling. The Vec 1 has never been close to water. It def wires into the ignition system in that the unit adjusts fuel and timing at both low and high throttle. I'm just curious if disconnecting it may allow me to see if the car will start in stock form. I have the...
The VEC def didn't get wet. The car cranks like crazy, just won't kick. I was alone today and wasn't dressed to start yanking plugs and checking for spark. No CEL's that I've seen since I bought the car 3+ years ago.
I had a thought. If I unplug the VEC t-taps under the dash and/or disconnect...
My car is 99 GTS with Vec1, exhaust work and otherqise fairly stock. Last weekend I took the car out to get it washed and it fired up just fine. I started it and sht it off a few times and at one point I fired it up at the car wash and it violently backfired and then wouldn't re-start. I smelled...
I've uses and have seen many Bosch 044 pumps in-tank in my DSM years ago. I made alost the identical set-up pictured above. My car was a 2.0L with 640hp at the wheels with meth injection on pump gas. I used decent sized injectors and was only at 70% injector duty cycle. That being siad, the 044...
This was a great thread. Thanks for this. I found and bought the same kit and used the same o-rings. Last year I just charged the system and never checked anything out. When I loosened the upper line on the compressor I could have probably done it by hand it was so loose and the o-ring inside...
This is weird. I had my drivers door panel off to address a slow window motor, put it back together and had no problem with the radio that I recalled. After I hit a decent bump this past weekend I began getting crackling through both sides with the radio on and not when playing a CD. I wonder if...
SWEET! hahaha.
I just bought and haven't even used the small one to try on my wheels and NOW you tell me there's a cone one now! I guess i'll drop another 25 bucks on that one too!
Thanks for the insight! Off to the auto parts store i go. This weekend is wheel weekend!
Hey guys. All of your help means a lot. Everyone who replied could have blazed me for being a penis and you've all been cool. I just ordered a pump from Paul Scharf who was a true pleasure to deal with. For anyone who makes this blunder my only advice is DON'T DO IT LIKE GABE! Chuck Tator let me...
Dave, no split in the hub by the way. Mine definitely isn't as shiny as the one on your sight either! hahaha.
I just relooked at the pics and get how the hub could have just been pressed on.
Thanks guys. I believe this pulley has 3 "slots" and 3 holes holes for the hub. The guy I bought it from had it laying around in the box for a while. I actually never thought about taking it apart before installing it(DOUCHEBAGGERY NUMBER 2) but this was probably a mental block resulting from a...
I don't have pics and have already pulled it apart..well almost.
This can be avoided by paying attention and having the right puller available. There's no GOOD parts stores nearby to borrow or rent from and I thought I had the right stuff handy. It all worked but I'm a dope!
Nonetheless...
Thankfully i'm in NJ and I won't be on the road for a while...especially since mother nature is bring us six to ten inches of snow by tomorrow!
As for the pulley, check out this link.
Pulley-P/S Pump Billet 96-02
What a S--tbag of a day I had. I bought this setup from someone on here who was selling it new in the box. No instructions but there's been enough insight on here to dive right in!
I had this thing going on SOOOOO smooth and about half hour in the pump was unbolted, old pulley off and as I...
im in the middle of installing this thing and im very.concerned i over "pressed" the pulley on. shoud the pulley and shaft be flush or should there be shaft visible? the tapered end of the shaft is showing and i feel like an idiot and totally didnt look at old pulley before pressing it off. car...
