    Southbend clutch

Have seen the Spec 3+ hold 900+ rwhp on a TT Viper recently. And that's "real world" not just a rating. They make an unsprung disk version also, which is slightly lighter weight and seems to shift a little crisper than the sprung 3+.

Well, I finally got my gold Forgestars. Flame away...

I'm with Nine Ball. Take the stripes off and the logo. Might leave the emblems, but that's just me. Those wheels just plain "work" on the red. Nice to see something different sometimes!

    S2000 push button start

^ I concur. It also gives a bit of a "race car" touch to the vehicle. Probably wouldn't be as cool on a minivan or pickup.

    S2000 push button start

Well done. Has a nice OEM look to it.

PRICES.. GTS's... will the SRTs drop below?

Hate to break it to ya but... Gallardos ain't doin' much better.

    SPEC 3+ slipping

Glad you figured out it wasn't the clutch causing your issues. I was thinking the 3+ usually doesn't give off a burn smell anyway due to it's metallic content. The 3+ is arguably the most capacity/per $dollar clutch you can buy for these Vipers.

Interesting video about future collectilbility of Viper

Good point. My GTS is still worth what I paid for it... maybe more. Can't say that about many cars.

    GTS Cover

I have an extra GTS cover in the duffle bag if interested. It's been used some, but it's in great shape. Was looking for $250 shipped. PM me if interested. :2tu: Found these pics doing a quick search, but it's exactly like this:

Good price sure, but hardly a steal.

    opinions ; 97 gts 110k miles

Might need hoses, radiator, belt, front gaskets, main seals, etc... but the rest should be just fine. A leakdown (like mentioned above) will tell alot about the condition of the engine itself, like if it has been run with nitrous, abused, etc... Mechanically, it should still be just fine after...

    gts chewed up its belt

Yes. Change both the power steering pulley and the bracket at the same time. Not a difficult job at all.

    AC, battery, alternator theory/question!

As stated, you'll have to measure some voltages to even begin to diagnose if there's a problem.

    Fixed my A/C for $4!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's a little low, yes it will make that much difference. Top it off but don't overfill.

    too fat to fit

That's gastric bypass territory. If you let yourself go from an already overweight 268 to a whopping 348... it's difficult to believe you could muster up the will power to drop back down. Get control of your mind first and it can happen. I wish you the best of decisions and health.

    Nightmare clutch... HELP... !

Vipers have a huge clutch in them which is not the most responsive even when new, so it could certaily be a bit lazy with age and miles. A new clutch ought to give it a quicker shifting feel.

    Fixed my A/C for $4!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That autozone package is what I used as well. There were enough o-rings to do all four. The condenser has the same ones on inlet and outlet.

    Mystery battery death solved!

If you remove the solar panel, and the battery drains in a short period of time, then the problem hasn't truly been "solved." When I bought my GTS, it used to kill a battery in a few days of leaving it sit in the garage. I fixed the electrical issue and now keep it on a tender for the sake...

    Fixed my A/C for $4!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did the two O-rings at the compressor, but also did the two O-rings at the condenser (in front of radiator) and replaced the high and low side schrader valve stems. By just adding R134a to the unvacuumed system, it would cool down to about 50ºF at the vents...not that efficient. By getting...

    Mystery battery death solved!

Optimas are not as bad as a few folks here would make them out to be. I've had one without fault in my GTS for a couple years now... also put a used SECOND HAND Optima in a mustang and it lasted 7 years for me! Batteries in these cars don't "drain on their own." These cars are notorious for...

I got one from Doug Levin. Medical supply places have them too. Don't buy those from a dealer.

    simple greened the engine

The wash has nothing to do with the burning oil. If the smoke is prevalent on startup but subsides as it warms up, then it's probably a valve guide (or guides). If it's a constant blue smoking always, then it's probably a valve seal (or seals). Rings would be unlikely unless you're very...

    3:55 versus 3:73 Gears

You'd have to drive one with different gears to understand. They truly do drive much nicer with a bit steeper gear in the back. Just feels better on the street... more responsive and nimble at part throttle stuff. I have a 4.11 ratio in my Gen 2 and, believe it or not, I really enjoy it...

    3:55 versus 3:73 Gears

If you were to switch between 3.73 and 3.55 or vice versa, you probably wouldn't even notice a difference. And one set does not generate "excessive heat" or "wear and tear" any more than the other set. Use whichever ratio you want and have it put in by a professional.
