I agree. Some people selling Vipers as "MINT" must have a different definition of "MINT" than I do. If you think Vipers are all over the place look up GT500's... about a 20-30K gap in prices between the EXACT same car for sale. Its funny to look at. Flip-up style stereo unit
Was going to be one of my next mods. Don't go cheap on these, but $800 will get you a name brand with all the bells and whistles. If you get the one with the Iphone app controls built in you can control your Iphone apps from your head unit so having NAV isn't much of a concern.- Blainne

I'm back and on the hunt for a GTS...
I've seen them go for around $35k with 30K or more miles... sure you could find them that cheap with 20k TRACK miles. A nice viper under $35k just ISN'T realistic. They have problems or hidden problems, need tires, or some other expensive fix. Only Viper GTS's I've seen sell for 33k or...- Blainne

Gen II and Gen III/IV Comparison

Sumner driving in viper AZ
I have a GEN II GTS. Live in Hereford, AZ and I drive in the summer wo/problems. AC blows cold. You'll be fine if you replace the stock cats with highflows are no cats since it keeps the cabin cooler and keeps the heat out of the door sills.- Blainne

Vipers and Haters

Is 1500 rpm ok for cruising in 6th gear?
The Viper has one of the highest low end TQ at super low RPMs. Its made to lug around at low rpm's. If your not.. then your just wasting gas. You'll know if your RPM's are too low for a speed. Your car will buck and bog.- Blainne

Asking vs Getting
I paid 38k for a mint 97 GTS with 19k miles. It had all recalls, power steering mod (so your new toy won't go up into flames), new tires, headers, X pipe with hi flo cats (So you don't fry on the stove door sills), short throw shifter, and intake. Can't decide which exhaust system
Quality and looks of the B&B exhaust is 2nd to NONE. I personally dont' like how the Borla kit looks coming out of the rear of the GTS compared to B&B. Some kits instead of the exhaust coming straight out of the rear actually angle up too much... making it look silly. Now for deciding a kit...- Blainne

Question on stock shift knob.
Well.. it will work, but the shift numbers will be facing the wrong way (Up side down). I tried to put my Old 04 Shifter in my 97 GTS and was upside down when tightened. Some aftermarket 03+ shifters knobs would work if they have a screw/bolt to tighten the shifter knob in any position.- Blainne

Viper Disrespect..
Clarkson loved the Viper as well. His first review of the Viper back in 1994 was a great review. Also the American Top Gear started out bad, but it actually isn't too bad after the 1st season. They have some good episodes. They had a great response to the European Reviews about them...- Blainne

GTR is great.... BUT Do some research on the parts and labor.... /bendover and take it. It makes the Viper look like an econobox. 15k for brakes. 20K plus for a new tranny. IMPORT CRAP. Worse than Porsche maintenance. Once you lose the warranty is /wave at your money. Cause its...- Blainne

+1 Gen 2 ACR is one of the sexiest Vipers ever made. I've been looking at these years ACR's as well for a long time, and this is the FIRST one I've seen without the radio and A/C option.- Blainne

Surprised no one ever made 17" 5 spoke replicas in a larger size?
Think the problem lies in the quality of the Factory 96-98 17" wheels. They break easily under track conditions. They would have to remake the wheel in aftermarket. Enlarging an already weak wheels would just compound the problem.- Blainne

Should unavailable parts discourage me from buying a Viper?
There isn't a Viper part I can think of that you can't buy. With the amount of totaled Vipers and the aftermarket of the Viper all the parts are out there just an internet search away.- Blainne

Fastest cars at the Ring you can buy in America
All the magazines are biased against the Viper. Notice all the tests are now "BEST DRIVERS CAR." Which means total BS since they don't grade on performance anymore. I like the last one which the Viper was LAST even though it had the FASTEST lap times. They do this so the G&y Porshes can win...- Blainne
