This is really what a Viper needs. I'm sure I was 600+ hp w/ my G. Good heads and a roller cam. I just had the heads rebuilt --are off the car and still for sale along w/ the gaskets and cam. Could throw in the intake manifold and throttle bodies. I went back to a Gen 1 motor to race in T1 this...
I still have my set of Greg Good heads that flow up to 315 in some ports. Made big HP on my race engine. I have a roller cam and solid lifters that can go along w/ the heads, or they can be run w/ hydralic lifters.
My ad isn't in the classifieds anymore for some reason, but they were...
This one has to be the most artistic. I like the way the pistons hold up the glass.
I also like the plain wine rack idea.
I heard the Hoosier getting grief, but this thread may be tesimony to my western PA upbringing, where we don't like to waste anything.
My motor went out w/ a bang at Watkins Glen last year. The block is no longer useful for its intended purpose, so I wonder what would most people do w/ it? I see a coffee table V10 on Topgear but I don't have a mancave for a similar piece. Any ideas? Is it worth more as scrap?
This is the best idea so far. You could probably drive over to the NARRA event @ NJMP this weekend and get all the advice and probably an alignment if you grease the right palms.
If that doesn't work, consider bringing the car to Viper Play day at BeaveRun/ PGH International on 6/23/2012.
The...
Get a lawyer. If the car had any guarantee or if it was "certified" you should prevail, but it may take awhile. I bought a Corvette in PA, had the lawyers from 1800lemonlaw (I think that was their ad) represent me. It took 2 years for GM to pay. In the meantime I paid for all the repairs and...
Happy, It was great meeting you and Cathy. Everyone appreciated your ability to drive AND repair the car, even if it only lasted a little while. The racing was just as exciting as other series, perhaps even more so given the size of the field...102 cars on a 2 mile circuit.
I know the shop Aries went to in Winchester. There is also a reputable shop just a little further south on I-81, in Middletown. If you're in Hagerstown or Frederick the drive would be worth it. PM for details.
I always wanted to ride in the space shuttle. Consider the last seat taken. I can fit in the seat w/o any problems based on your description of the other drivers.
I have a full race '96 that has the power, but I think I would be faster in the newer car. As a driving instructor I have been in Gen III's and Gen IV's that are quite capable even as they have been driven to the track.
It seems like the OP has already made the right mods but should add the...
Bill & Scott---
excellent help. I'll email Scott.
The rules I downloaded from the NARRA site for GT-1 cars of my era aren't specific on the issue. It mentions replacing the back window w/ lexan that can be vented, but I think that rule is intended for the GTS models.
I bet something on the...
Scott,
My car has a hard top but the point of contention was I have no back window. On Saturday the SCCA requested I take off the top and use arm restraints. I used arm restraints but resisted taking the top off (feels safer to me w/ it on.) They gave me a one race waiver to get the rules in...
A question to those who have raced an RT/10 in Viper Days or NARRA. Do Gen I-II's have to run w/ their top off? Do they have to run w/ a back window?
Does anyone have a link to the specific section of the rules on this topic?
Thanks
You may want to reconsider and drive the Viper to VIR. If you're just at the point of buying a helmet, you probably don't have enough track days to really push the car to its limits. You can still have a great time and push the car to YOUR limits w/o driving so hard that you need to tow it home.
It's nice to see your own car appreciated on a poster.
I met you at the NASA event @ VIR. I probably won't make the one on your poster, but plan on the NASA event @ BeaveRun next month. If the VCA needs an instructor (on Friday), I'll bring the Viper. If not, I'll bring the Firebird to race in...
I talked to Jim as well. It was good to see someone make the long trip for the event. I hope I didn't mess up his lap times by suggesting another way around the Oak tree.
