1999 Gts Gen 4 or 5 Motor & dash swap. Questions

If you have the money to do this just go buy a gen 5...... it will be cheaper. The electronics are not compatible. Gen 5 motor mounts are completely different. You might want to consider putting GEN 4 / GEN 5 Heads. I did it. If you still want to do this and money is no object I would start...

Gen III heads on a Gen II

This is a really old thread. More recent info out there. Not sure what the picture of the stock headers means. Or are confusing headers with valve heads?

Yep Fatboy 18 the website was a huge asset. Less was left to the imagination. I think the nature of the website aided in communication.

    It was a strange experience.

I would use Cruise Control on my GEN 2 if I had it. Don't give hoot what others think. It is the primary reason trips beyond 2 hours or so on major highways in the viper suck other than racking up the miles. Locking my foot in one position for hours is not exactly what I call a high value...

Gen 2 to Gen 4 Engine Modification

I can't comment directly with regard to your question since the car had upgraded heads that I sold before doing this. I can tell you that a friend (a real track rat) who previously owned a GEN 2 until recently was really impressed with the power the car put down and the seat of the pants feel.

So it gets a little warm...... but not never warm enough to stop stupidity. Cold tires don't help either.

    Smokey Dyno in akron, ohio

Frank I have had my car dyno'd there a few years ago which they then also updated the tune for. Subsequently I have been to their new shop for a dyno day (this last summer) to check a recent engine build. I know of one other local viper owner (black ACR) that had them tune his GEN 2 as...

Gen 2 to Gen 4 Engine Modification

I ran the usual oil. However, the problems all started shortly after taking possession of the car. The problems all rest with the previous owner. Water under the bridge at this point. I inherited the problems. I have extensively rebuilt this car with the intention of long term...

Gen 2 to Gen 4 Engine Modification

Some mods were necessary in terms of putting the GEN 4 pump into the GEN 2 basket. This included developing a transition piece to replace the regulator that is part of the GEN 2 basket (new regulator went into the engine bay). The GEN 4 pump does not have an integral back flow so that when the...

Gen 2 to Gen 4 Engine Modification

Arrow installed a new cam since I have the old cam which I believe a stocker would be a 708 cam. Since the tune was updated I have not had the opportunity to take to the dyno to see if the numbers are any better.

Gen 2 to Gen 4 Engine Modification

I am not an expert on the differences others may wish to chime in. The crank stroke is greater on the later models. i.e. GEN 3 is a stroker when compared to the GEN 2. Same for the GEN 4. My engine is a standard GEN 2 crank. Head air flow GEN 2 < GEN 3 < GEN 4 RPM GEN 2 < GEN 3 < GEN 4 the...

    Akron/Cleveland Viper Tech?

McCann Racing is around. In fact they can be reached at 330-244-9335. You can also find them on Facebook. The information noted above is inaccurate. If you make a visit there and have a good appreciation for Vipers you will be very interested in the GEN V race car they are building.
