I appreciate some of the discussion, but it seems like most people didn't read my op and are just rehashing what is in all the other threads. I did read my full policy. I know what it says and am not assuming anything. I even directly quoted the closest-to-applicable exclusions in my op. I...
I'm not interested in on-track insurance. I looked into it and it was around $300. I would spend it if I needed to, but I am pretty confident that there is no language in my policy that would exclude coverage for HPDE.
I am attending Chin's HPDE event at Road Atlanta Monday. I have been to other tracks (VIR, CMP, Roebling) but have never been to one with quite so much concrete. That got me a little worried about what would happen if my Viper had an intimate encounter with said concrete.
I have searched...
Both the primary cats were bad when I bought my 03. I got rid of all 4 and switched to a Gen IV exhaust. I highly recommend it, but only if you can get a good tune. It will run great and the tuner can eliminate the secondary 02 sensors.
In case you were wondering, it doesn't stink.
I have no cats and Gen IV mufflers in my 03. I could not be happier with the sound. The cooler cabin and significant power gains are also great. I can probably do a vid if you are interested. Let me know.
Mark or FLX109, I haven't gotten any PM's or anything, so let me know if you can get a hold of some for me. I would love to get them as soon as I can.
Also, thanks for the mounts Mark. Those things make an incredible difference. I could not be happier with the results.
In case this happens to someone in the future...
I backed the piston off too far. You just need a pair of needle nose pliers with fine tips to turn it. Keep it out far enough that you have to push to slide the caliper back on when the new pads are installed.
I had the dreaded worn inner e-brake pad. Bought some new pads, took off the caliper, adjusted the piston, installed new pads...
Now there is a lot of play in the pads. I am having to work way too hard to tighten the bolts that hold the caliper on too. I stopped just to make sure I didn't...
Thanks guys. I have ordered my mounts, clutch, and new slave cylinder.
I am 50/50 on the flywheel. I have read some posts suggesting it doesn't effect driveablility, but others that suggest it can cause problems around town. If I get one, it will be the Fidanza or the Chromoly one that Jon...
It releases high, but it doesn't slip or give me any trouble. I thought about just replacing the fluid and living with it. However, I need to do the mounts and I figure I'd have them do the clutch just in case. Also, I am taking it to VIR in two weeks so I'd hate to have it go out there.
I have an 03 33k w/bolt-ons making 480/505 at the wheels. I use it mainly for track days and have no plans for any more mods.
My clutch is releasing really high and searching the forums leads me to believe that means I need a new clutch. My shifter moves like crazy under acceleration and my...
Here you go.
Check out this quote from the same article:
"It is also the best time amongst the bona-fide production models. Better than the Nissan GT-R (7 min 24 sec), better than the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (7 minutes 19 sec), better than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS (7 minutes 18 seconds)."
Didn't...
Lexus made an edition of the LFA specifically for this task. It seemed to work. They posted a 7:14.
Here's a link to Jalopnik, with a link to the full article therein.
Most people seem to be saying:
V10
Same basic framework as geniv
Direct Injection
Dry sump
I think a dry sump stock motor is unlikely. But imagine how low that lower cg would make the new snake hang a curve.
I just realized my last post doesn't really answer your question since you were only talking about deleting one cat. There are a bunch of threads about that if you search. I think most people have said it works fine. The downstream 02 sensor shouldn't be affected since it is located between...
All this is true, except for the last part. I have a 3" mandrel-bent cat-delete and GENIV cat-back in my 03. The only other HP related adds I have are a K&N and BBK Throttle body. The blue line in the graph below is the dyno pull with the mods but before the dyno-tune. The red line is after...
Love these tires. Got the rears off eBay and the fronts off tirerack. $1,100 shipped. Tue mag comparos I read all showed better laptimes with the xs than ps2's, but only in the dry. They aren't as predictable in the wet. I had them on a wet morning at VIR with no complaints, but I was far...
See...this is what I was thinking all along. I doubt I would switch back and forth between springs, so I would pick a stiff but streetable springrate and adjust the shocks for the track. However, since I am not going to add aero and the shocks are set up for it, I would think that I would only...
And thanks to Hank too. A testimony from someone who had tried this out was exactly what I was looking for. I don't know if that is your real name but I named my 2-month old Hank. It's not his official name because the wife was not on board, but that's what I call him anyway.
So i'd be $2500 plus $250ish to get to have a V3 with the right springrate, but the shocks wouldn't work right with my car. It sounds like V2 is the way to go. That stinks because I was really looking forward to learning how to set up an adjustable suspension. Maybe when I buy a ACR in a few...
