SRT retakes Laguna Seca record with 2014 SRT Viper TA!!!

Vindicated? For some reason, I feel slightly vindicated by this video and reporting. I seem to recall late last year getting into a pissing match with certain members here who stated it was only the tires which were at fault. No amount of critical and logical dissection of the various...

SRT retakes Laguna Seca record with 2014 SRT Viper TA!!!

So you're an admitted troll on other forums and are surprised your threads got locked? Perhaps you should read the reasons why they're locked: CF has an "Other Cars" section and that's where the Viper's excellent accomplishments should be announced and celebrated. But you're free to believe...

    Latest from Edmunds. Dyno test.

Why's that? I happen to know for a fact that GM doesn't send ringers, specially tuned, cared for, watched over, etc cars to magazines for shoot-outs. They just grab one and send it to the magazine in question. They'd much rather let the car, in its stock form, do all the talking. That means...

And your ignorance is amazing, but continue believing what you will. I can provide all sorts of documentation regarding the LS9's SAE ratings if you'd like, but you could find the same things just by looking a little. You have absolutely zero evidence this car was a ringer. jas

    Latest from Edmunds. Dyno test.

Call it BS all you like, you're wrong. Any other ZR1 off the lot would have tested similarly that day, that time, at that dyno. Perhaps you'll catch the drift that comparing different chassis dyno tests on different days, times, shops, etc, is about as useful as comparing track times at two...

    Latest from Edmunds. Dyno test.

Good luck with that one. The LS9 (and LS7) follow a specific set of SAE standards for torque testing, and every one of them out of the Wixom plant are within a few HP of the rated number. There was nothing special about the car Edmund's got for testing; it was no different than one you or I...

    Doomed

As a die hard Corvette fan, I hope you're right. However, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for HP numbers like that. GM's curse of the success of the Corvette means they sell in volume. And with that volume comes the fun bit of fuel efficiency requirements. I don't believe your Viper is...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

More tire will mean quicker fading of the existing brakes. I'm not sure why this point is so difficult for certain folks to grasp. If the current brakes are fading as reported by "Motor Trend" with the existing tires, then shodding the car with tires that grip better will put even more strain...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

I see your reading comprehension is that of a first grader; I said no such thing. I very clearly said the ZR1 is a better overall car than the Z06 is, on the road and on the track. I never claimed it was the "best road racing car ever". Please learn to read. It'll do you some good as you...

Again: it doesn't matter who accepts it. As BWright is consistently reminding people in other forums: you can't be a little illegal. You're either illegal or you're not. And the Viper ACR, as equipped, was illegal on US roads. Period. Does it mean it's illegal in other parts of the world...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Facts are facts: as delivered to the 'Ring that car was not FMVSS legal. Period. Full stop. You don't have to accept it, like it, or even believe it. But it's true. It's why the car can't legally be delivered with its splitter attached from the dealer (I'm sure lots of dealers do it...

If ownership of the marquee is required, then discussions would be sorta one-sided here, don't ya think? Same as on the Corvette Forum, the Ferrari Forum, the Porsche Forum, etc, etc. Don't think for a moment that there aren't Viper owners over on the Corvette Forum: folks that have no...

Let me know when you have extensive experience driving both cars on a road course. Ah, I can see what I'm working with here and it ain't much. Let's see if I can talk at a level you'll understand. Interesting. I make a claim based purely on the article at play here, but you call me on...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

I owned and drove a Z06 on the race track for over 3 years. I've plenty of experience in one. The ZR1 in my garage now is far more capable a road car and a track car in every possible way. Come visit the Corvette Forum and you'll find I'm not the only one that thinks that. A number of us...

Like? Possibly, but as it turns out: it doesn't. So it isn't. And yet it still loses. Hm. Let's get back to discussing Vipers vs Vettes because you're a bit out of your league here, junior. :) jas

Re: Corvette Needs the Viper to be at the Top of its Game... Clearly I don't, and have never turned any laps on a road course in anger, in any car at all. Ya got me. You stated it so it must be fact, huh? I'll happily consume any evidence you care to provide. If ya got it, whip it out. jas

Re: Corvette Needs the Viper to be at the Top of its Game... Perhaps not, but they overtook the brakes, and they helped the Viper grip enough to turn the same Gs as the ZR1. To be honest, I'll bet they are quite a bit better than the PS2s from an overall grip perspective. The tires weren't...

Monday we find out who is faster at Laguna Seca, ZR1 or Gen V

Unless your goal is a naturally aspirated engine, the Z06 is in no way, shape, or form the "better car" than the ZR1. Other than very tight tracks, the ZR1 trounces on the Z06 in every case. But it should, since it costs so much more than its little brother. jas

Re: Corvette Needs the Viper to be at the Top of its Game... Again: the same might be said of the ZR1 were Mero to come in and do the deed. Fortunately for us Corvette folks he's too busy testing the new C7 to worry about such things, so the likelihood of that happening is nearly nil. It's...

Re: Corvette Needs the Viper to be at the Top of its Game... Perhaps, but, 2 seconds on Leguna is not a small amount of time. It's not like a couple of tenths here or there. It's pretty decisive, actually. And had he enabled the PTM, the difference would have been greater. I'll readily...

Corvette Needs the Viper to be at the Top of its Game... Lots to reply to, but I won't bother quoting individual posts as it'll just end up making my post that much longer and more gnarly to read. But... First of all, I'm genuinely surprised at the results of this test. As a ZR1 owner, I'm...
