A gen II GTS is one of the best bang for the buck cars out there. I could have gotten any Viper I wanted, but the Gen II GTS is the best looking one of the entire Viper line. As for the Ford GT , for that price I would get something more exotic.
Open recall on the frame crack issue is actually good. My worry would have been some idiot doing warranty work (which does not pay jack) on the car. Frame is probably fine unless someone beat the sh?t out of it
Check to see if your cooling fan is working. The fan needs to come on when the coolant gets to a predetermined temp at slow speed & idle conditions. Once the fan can pull the temp
down it will turn off. When driving at higher speeds the fan is not needed. Sounds to me your fan is not working
Got mine from the dealer, because I own a shop and spend lots of $$$ with them, they gave it to me at a deep discount. Wasnt aware of mopar parts overstock, thats a really good price
Same problem with mine, harder to close with the new weatherstrip. Also had a slight kink where the A meets the roof. Then I noticed that the passenger side has the same kink and it is the original.
Where are you located? I am in Southern Maryland. With all the salt on the streets and the way the weather is going, it will still be sometime before my stuff (or should I say puff) hits the road :( 02 GTS.... Love my creampuff
Granted the newer cars are faster and improved. I could have gotten any Viper I wanted, but the Gen II GTS has the lines that no other Viper has...It was my only choice
2002 GTS graphite/silver
3000 miles
Purchased in Oct 2013
Live in Southern Maryland
Car has never been titled (Still on Certificate of Origin)
Waiting for the salt to wash away so I can drive it, finally
I see asking prices are up there for the 96 blu/wt cars. I also see they have been for sale for a long time. I dont think they are getting near that. Just my opinion. First time I saw one, I was going to a Ferrari event at Summit Point. I was driving my 930 into the pit area and what was in...
As much as I like to see big numbers for the cars I own at any of these auctions (circuses) Barrett bidders seem to be the type that have to prove, my check book is bigger than yours. These people have more dollars than sense. Definetly not market value
I am not familiar with the smog test for California, but in Md. if the check engine lamp is not on with engine running and the ECU passed all readiness checks then it will pass. They cant check to see if the car has cats because they cant see thru the rockers.
Good question. I am an exotic car guy, but I think the gen 2 GTS is a bad ass looking car. That's why I could not resist getting one. Never really thought about the fact that I was buying a Mopar
I was hoping to get the Lambo type sound. I already bought all the stuff, so I am stuck with the results ( unless I want to spend more $$$) But anything will sound better than the stock system :) I will keep you guys posted on my results.
I was hoping to get a higher pitched euro kind of sound vs a deep american muscle note. I guess I will find out. I listened to many You Tube vids. I could not find many with the B &B cat back with cat delete. Lots of choices out there.
I took my flywheel inspection cover off, held the flywheel with a large pry bar, had another person work the torque wrench. Mine was tight and I also marked the bolt with a paint pen
I am thinking of going catless just to protect the paint on my rockers. My rockers are pristine now, but how long can the paint handle that kind of heat
I don't know if stripes affect the value of the car. Stripes were a $3K option on my 02. I couldn't have a GTS without stripes, but like Indy said, it is what you want that counts
Don't get me wrong, I think the newest Viper is cutting edge ( as what Dodge intended for the Viper) but all the new cars....Viper, Vette, Ferrari, GTR, Lexus, etc. are all starting to look the same. I cant think of dreaming of anything other than a GTS (even if it is old news & not as fast) :)
