Question for all you 1/4 drag kings. What is the general rule (if there is one) on the decrease in times and increase in trap speed with the increase in HP. For example: take a stock Viper that dynos at 415 RWHP 450 Tq and run a 12 second 1/4 mile with a 115 MPH trap time. Now take that same car with the same driver on the same track (same temp etc.) and increase the HP/TQ to 600/615. What would you expect to be the changed results? (BTW - if the numbers resemble the Roe S/C Dyno, it is purely coincidental

Doug Levin has a nice HP -v- ET -v- MPH calculator that you can use to make delta calculations.

While the absolute numbers will be off, the comparative differences will be close.

Hey Tony:
I actually spoke w/ Sean and apparently he'll have 4 complete sets ready by VOI. I couldn't help even if I wanted since mine will be shipped first week of Oct. (Of course I would have given you mine if I could

Eddie and Tom: You're right. I forgot about those calculators. I guess I can "trial and error" them in reverse and figure out what those HP/TQ numbers will yield. I just figured that someone with a "700 BHP tuner package" might already have the experience.

I'd be curious to know too. I have almost the exact same mods as Sean has on his Viper before the SC, with the exception of the 1.7 roller rockers. So I expect to dyno close to the 600 rwhp and torque that he got. I am hoping for very high 10's to very low 11's with stock street tires even on the crappy track I run at.

Based on Doug Levin's HP calculator:
Time = 10.5
Trap Speed = 130
Weight 3,450
HP - 590 & 592

Does this seem reasonable?

The driver is so light that he must be one of those back hatch midgets!

OOPS! Sorry Kenny. Topic DID mention idiots!

Okay, revised numbers as follows:
Time = 10.65
Trap Speed = 128
Weight 3,650
HP - 598 & 598
Are these numbers reasonable? Anyone? Assume that the driver has experience (said driver is obviously not me...based on 1/4 mile experience and the pre-college additional weight

Maybe not a 10.50 but the 10.65 is very attainable. here is my reasoning: This is assuming rear tires are et streets. taking my
1/8 mile time 7.31 and converting to 1/4 mile = 11.33 and that should take no more than 50-60 hp to reach the 10.90's. I'm saying my car with the s/c will be about 575 rwhp (I think Sean got 25 from the rockers if I remember correctly and I do not have rockers) and it should pick up to the 6.90's 1/8 mile which would = 10.69 to 10.70's. With street tires I went 7.69, from many 11.00 passes in my f-body running a 11.00 efi index the 1/8 mile was dead on a 7.00 1/8 mile....from the conversion I was using, the Viper is a little stronger in the back half. It shows a 7.10 to be a 11.00 Of course I always set goals and with a little driver tuning I expect to get into the 10.50's. My car is headers, exhaust, throttle bodies, 3.54 gear, it hasn't been back to the strip since the vec1 was added. Anybody else has predictions?

Add 1 sec and 10 MPH to your times now and that's what you'll get with the supercharger. So if you run 12.3@115 now, expect 11.3@125 with blower or if your running 12.0@119 then expect 11.0@129 you got to add it to what you NORMALLY run, not to what the car with a perfect driver can run JMHO

Dan,

While I agree that the viper is difficult to get off of the line we have several cars that run mid tens with 600 RWHP and less.

I drove a 2001 creampuff with just exhaust and nitrous(585 rwhp)to a 10.58 and the video is on my website. The car did have e.t. streets for traction and the sway bar removed.

Whats amazing is that 600 RWHP in a car with an efficient chassis like a typical saturday nite drag car will easily net high 9 second times.

Best of luck,

Tom
