Should I use dot 3 or 4 fluid for my brakes? I plan to do some track days and the owners manual says dot 3. However I have read that dot 4 is better for its higher boiling point. Any thoughts?
3 and 4 are compatible with each other and will mix, so no need to empty the system dry before filling with 4.
-Just bleed with the DOT-4 until clear at the calipers.
A lot of track guys swear by Motul 600, Castrol SRF or ATE Super Blue. -and nothing else.
I use Castrol synthetic DOT-4 and have had no problems.
