Lots of rumors have been popping up. Most of them are stating a source leaked that is was 600 HP or more. Jalopnik seems to be the original source which you do have to give them more credit than usual given that they brought the C7 to the world long before it was revealed.

Here is a link to a supposed spy shot of a Z06 testing...

Here is Fast Lane Daily mentioning it on their show and they are affiliated with Jalopnik. Given that the C6Z06 Carbon Edition was right on the heels of a Gen IV ACR with 505 HP, I'd be really curious how well it would do with another 90+ HP.

In all reality, we should view this as good news. This should push SRT to tweak the Gen V some more. Given that this will be a 2015 release, I bet the ACR will be as well. However, if the ZR1 gets a similar power increase, the Gen V all around needs to get to 700 HP, not just the ACR IMO. Anyways, this is exciting times as many have said. Looking forward to the ACR.

I think it will be more towards 550-570, no way will it hit 600. Only way they'd go over 600 is if they aren't planning a ZR1.

My GM rumor mill insiders say the next Z06 will have forced induction. They are no longer using the 427ci LS7 engine, those are getting phased out with the 2014 Camaro Z28 production. Expect a similar powerplant as the current ZR1 found in the Z06. The Z06 will easily clear 600 hp. I've heard rumors of twin-turbo for the ZR1.... I can't wait.

ACR better have that rumored Paxton supercharger pre-installed from the factory, if it wants to hang.

Does the previous ACR used FI? How can it be a track car with FI?

I think the zo6 given the BS bump in hp on the base will also have a BS bump in hp to maybe 530-540 tops. Zr1 will be 650-660 I bet.

ZR1 and GT2 are both forced induction cars, that track well. It is all about heat management, nothing more.

+1. McLaren MP4-12c is also forced induction. Heat soak is a factor, and I know the SRT engineers have always looked down their nose at forced induction.

However if they go 800hp 10L NA I wouldn't mind at all either. :D

Production Vipers have never been forced induction.

Heat soak can be managed. Sure, there is hp lost between cold ambient intake temps, and hard run intake temps, but the heat soak does taper off after a point and doesn't get any worse. Once a blower is hot, it is just hot and stays that temp. The cars can still perform very well when heat soaked. I would lose about 15-20 rwhp on the dyno once my blower was hot. Not a big deal. It was very consistent when hot.

ZR1 was the first forced induction Corvette, too. 2003 Cobra was first Mustang. There is always room for another first.

Problem with most forced induction on street/track cars is the lack of consistancy. Difficult to dial a car in, if every lap produces different power off the corners. Put your foot in it on one lap and you slide right to the edge, next time you are off the edge.

    THIS

Personally I hope they do that. Blowers are fine, but turbos can be mounted away to avoid tight high back pressure bends and have more potential. They are by far the most proven power adder on circuits and ultra reliable in endurance racing. Anyone remember the Can Am 1300hp twin turbo Porsche 917/30?

It is end of game when a factory opens their wallet and gets serious with turbos and a big engine. The only competition will be another turbo for outright performance potential. Harnessing it is another matter, but electronic boost control and traction control takes care of that.

There is precedent for Chrysler - the ME4-12. Rear wheel drive, 800hp, 2800lbs.

Or you can be sure that supercharger add on aftermarket sales will explode if they do not.

Does anyone have any sold info to back up even small parts of this rumor ?

Rumors rumors rumors. There are plenty of those out there and more important things to worry about than speculation.
