`96 gts alloy wheels???

Hey Tom,
The 96 wheels are not forged and subsequently not as strong as your 97 wheels which are. Drag strip should not be a problem, but autocross I would only use the forged wheels. If your 96 wheels are chrome, they are even weaker. Hope this helps and if I am mistaken on any points, someone will correct me.

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Correct. All 1996 and early 1997 are cast and have weld bead. Late 1997 and all 1998 are forged, no bead and a higher level of polish.

They say cast are OK for stock tires in any application, but not for any higher adhesion tire like Hoosiers. I myself switched to 1998 wheels for the extra margin of safety.</FONT f>
