I was talking to that guy again about the Pace Car GTS's, and he made a really big deal about the Low Vin number my car has. I guess I always just looked at it as somewhat of a trivial item. Yeah it's kinda cool, but does anyone really care? This guy thought it was the coolest thing in the world !! Anyhow, my '96 GTS is number 000049. What's yours ??

Jamesp,
Boy this guys gonna wet his shorts when i tell him what your number is............LOL. He was so funny the way he'd go on about stuff like that. Honestly though, I really enjoyed his enthusiasm about this 96 GTS. It's always fun to see someone's excitement over something that I can share with them. Remember the first time you saw a Viper, and maybe back then you never thought you'd have one, This is that guy !!

That's right. The MonthDayHour (MDH) on the door latch sticker tells the story. Mine was on the assembly line during the Indy 500 & VOI3.

Funny in my case I looked for a higher VIN number, although not directly corresponding to build date, a later build month and VIN number moved me to forged rims, not cast!

As far as more value in 96 for earlier built cars beyond the first few, things that make ya go hmmmmmmm......

Funny this thread popped up now. In my never-ending search for wrecks I cam across (2) 1992 RT VINs # 9 & # 14. The #14 was listed as a "Mule" car and "the" lowest VIN number released to the public. The gentleman with #9 was much more believable person and just said he picked it up cause he loved the car. For anyone interested #9 was last seen in New Mexico and #14 is lost in Washington state and both were for sale as of last month (though I don't remember where I saw them listed).

My 96 GTS is number 52. That makes it worth about $1,000,000 US in my opinion. I am going to put it on E-bay with a starting bid of $250,000. Maybe some rich Saudi prince will buy it.
