Bob's BBQ July 31 2010
Bob Woodhouse has been gracious enough to put together an event for us and include the KC region folks. Below are the details and as we get closer we will have more information.

The KC area folks would leave on Saturday from KC, say mid-morning and return Sunday either directly or after touring the Strategic Air Museum on I-80.

The agenda could be refined from the following

-Leave KC at 9:30 AM, caravan to Omaha.

· Arrive around 12:30 in the downtown area and lunch at the “Old Market”

· Do the Western Heritage Museum The Durham Museum or options below.

· Check in at the hotel mid afternoon. In the Omaha area there are three new downtown Hotels, Hampton, Hilton, Holiday Inn, three Casino Hotels in CB. all are reasonable.

· Depart Omaha via Mo Valley, about 15 miles north and closer to Blair Ne is the Desoto National Wildlife Refuge where the Steamboat Bertrand sank around 1900 on its way to Montana Gold Fields. Great indoor exhibits and is a large flyway for migratory birds. 2 hrs Midwest Region Refuge System

· Optional afternoon agenda:

o Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo Home | Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo, ranked #2 in the U.S. 2.5 hrs

o View the downtown fountain parks and try the newly finished people bridge that spans the Missouri, http://www.americantrails.org/resour...ahabridge.html interesting outdoor exhibits, both sides. 1.5 hr then 25 miles north to Blair.

Evening time arrive around 6:00 at the Woodhouse residence and race shop and enjoy the evening with an informal barbecue catered out of the race building, 1925 Soren Drive in Blair. Dodge Viper Racing : Performance Parts & Accessories
Drive back to Omaha, 20 miles to the chosen hotel, next day “Go West Young Man.”
The Strategic Air Museum Strategic Air and Space Museum on I-80, about 20 miles west of Omaha. This is simply top notch, near. Ashland, Ne. 2 hrs

-Return Sunday to Kansas City using an alternate route that brings you through Nebraska City. About 3 hrs home if liesurely. Small yet interesting things like the Slave Trade smuggling caves and pony express trail routes.

This sounds like a great road trip for KC and Bill can get it on the calendar and maybe mention it as an addition at ladies night coming up.

WOW - this site is really loosening up. I didn't think you could say BBQ on this site after VOI 9 :omg:.

Sounds like a great time - hope to make it.
