First there was the Viper RT/10 with a 400 hp, 488 cu.in. engine.

Then came Viper GTS with a 450 hp 488 cu. in. engine.

Next is the 2003 SRT10 with a 500 hp 505 cu.in.engine.

What do you think the Viper HP/Cu.In. will be in 2013?

I will go 5-6 years before and say 800 HP in 2007. It will need to be there based on what one of the other big three has planned, and PVO knows this!

Steve, does "one of the other" manufacturers mean GM and their V-12 engine for the Cien, which might fit nicely in the new Corvette?? If so, is Dodge actively reacting?

If California has it's way, the tailpipe will be piped directly to the cockpit where we will all beathe the smog proof exhaust rather that the crummy outside air.
And it will get 87 mpg (corporate average CAFE is 100 mpg).
Will be much smaller is size, and probably some kind of newer technology ceramic engine.
Clinton-Gore will be in their second term (Her and Her) in the White House, and driving Gen I, Gen II and Gen III Vipers will be illegal due to the excess polution. Penalty for enjoying them will be same as treason because we'll be destroying America as we know it.
Probably more true than we can possibly believe today.

Hopefully we'll have a "limited production" version of the Viper that'll compete in GTS...

Something like 800hp, weighing around 2600lbs due to extremely high-tech materials usage.

Then we'll have a normal Viper, probably around 650hp, 9 liter displacement, weight of 3000lbs.

I'm going out on a weak limb, but if the Coupe doesn't come around soon we won't even need to worry about the HP 4 years from now!

Insurance will keep power down, so Dodge will make the car lighter and the engine smaller. I'd hope for 600-ish, but we'll see.

And the engine will be a gasoline direct injected engine, a mixture of lean-burn, statified charge, diesel injection, and spark ignition. Audi did it at Le Mans and Toyota and Mitsubishi also do around the world, proving you can get both power and economy. It takes much more ECU brain power and very different general maintenance strategies.

This is dated technologically, but good info.

Dodge/PVO have authority right from the top (Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard) that they WILL take on anyone who would like to challenge them for the title King of The Hill. He has welcomed the competition, and actually looks forward to it, as does the team at PVO. The only way they will make more power is if it is needed! And judging by what the others are trying to do, it soon will be!
