It’s time to hit the road for our annual fall cruise! We’re headed north into southeastern Wisconsin!! We’ve planned out all the details, we have several stops we’ll be making which will include lunch and optional dinner. You’re gonna love it!

Our plan is to meet at 8:30am at Woodfield Mall in the South-East corner of the Sears Parking lot. The streets right at the corner of that lot are Woodfield Road and West Frontage Road, it’s in fact in the same general direction many of you head for our meetings. We’ve used this location to meet in the past.

For those coming from the south up I355, it’s the same exit you take for our meetings - except, instead of driving up Frontage Road to Golf, you’ll turn (left) a bit sooner because you’ll see Woodfield Road shortly after exiting the highway. If you don’t get it right, simply drive around the mall, you’ll find us! Please be ON TIME, the cruise leaves at 9:00am! We have a lot planned!!

We’ll first have a little over an hour’s drive heading northeast using the backroads as we head to Pleasant Prarie, WI. We'll of course avoid traffic of the highways!
Here we’ll indulge in sweet sensations as we tour the Jelly Belly Center!

The Center is designed so visitors can take a tour of the warehouse and taste the magic of "the original gourmet jelly bean". We’ll begin at Jelly Belly Junction as we board a train for a ride through this massive factory and distribution center. The 30-minute ride makes stops at a variety of stations with large screen videos showing the company's century of candy making and how they make candy corn, jelly beans, taffy, gummies and more.

While we’re here, we’ll also visit “Candy Alley”, stop in their reatil store, and of course no stop here would be complete without tasting the goods! We'll finish up our visit here in about an hour before hopping back in our cars for our next stop... lunch!

We'll travel an hour to Troy and we’ll visit the very well known “Gus’s drive-in”!

This restaurant is a 1950’s nostalgic drive-in eatery popular for their famous cruise night that draws cars from miles around. From the signature Elvis statue to all the retro decor, it'll definitely bring back memories of an earlier time.

Gus’s is open only in the warm months of the year, closing up for the winter in November. So it’ll be a nice stop for the Viper’s to make an appearance. You might even see our cars on their website after the event!

After lunch we’ll pack up camp and traverse some gorgeous Wisconsin rural roads as we approach our next stop... the Wisconsin Auto Museum!

This museum is the largest in the state featuring an ever-growing display of classic, vintage autos, and automotive artifacts. It’s also the home of “the Kissel” which was manufactured right there in Hartford from 1906 to 1931. While we’re there, other attractions will include: an exhibition dedicated to the Nash, all-new display area for the Hudson Essex Terraplane, Southeastern Wisconsin Short Track Hall of Fame, and gift shop. Of course along the way we’ll also see many rare treats such as Reos, Pierce-Arrows, Pontiacs, Studebakers, Chevrolets and Fords. Also on display are many automotive artifacts such as license plates, spark plugs, oil cans, old signs, and industrial engines. Everything is setoff to a striking Art Deco interior.

Our day isn’t done there! By this time it’ll be around 3:45pm, at this point you can choose to head home or join the rest of the group as we have a great dinner at a very popular place while we’re up here. We’ll be stopping for a bite at the Cotton Exchange! Here we’ll enjoy the country charm and casual elegance as we savor the history and taste at this great nitch restaurant set in a beautifully restored turn of the century barn (built in 1881)!

If you haven’t eaten there, you’ve got to give it a try. Menu prices range from $15.00-$25.00. We’ll arrive for dinner around 5:00pm and head home after a relaxed meal. All venues are protected from the elements, so we’ll be cruising rain or shine. It’s going to be a great cruise, we’ll see you there!

Registering
This particular cruise will NOT require a registration to be sent in given the locations we’ll be visiting! All we need from you is an email or phone call indicating that you’ll be joining us. We’ve coordinated all the tours and negotiated prices for all the stops. The only things that you have to pay for (when you are there) is for the Auto Museum, it’s a charge of $6. We’ve also arranged that lunch and dinner be paid individually as well. There will be no charge for Jelly Belly. So it saves you the trouble of sending anything in! Simply let us know you’re coming via phone or email!!

Things to Remember
As with every cruise I would remind you of our usual disclaimers….. we generally cruise with the speed of traffic and each Viper follows the Viper in front of them. This helps make for some care free cruising without having to follow a map. For this reason, it’s important to stay together. While the route has been selected to take us away from traffic where possible, let’s not allow too much traffic to break us up since we’re following each other with line-of-sight. At times we may stop and wait for the rest of the group. But always keep the directions we provide you, in case you are separated (most often by traffic lights).

Please remember to have your cell phone with you. You’ll receive paperwork the day of the event with the cruise route and telephone numbers to call if you get lost during the cruise. Sunglasses are always another good idea. Also, given the locations we are stopping at, don’t forget your camera! As always, make sure you check the hotline the day of event by calling (630) 415-3642 and hitting Option #3 for any last minute changes.

If you’ve never taken a cruise with the club, you don’t know what you’re missing. We’ve taken care of all the details, just come along and have fun. We’re looking forward to the day and think you’ll find this trip very enjoyable! If you have any questions, just call or e-mail:

If we take advantage of the few weekends that we will have left this year - we sure can head south too.

Since Nancy and Larry are our cruise directors for this run, it's their call. They know these roads so that's kind of why we went this direction. sorry Rob!! I know it was initially their plan to head south too, but the plans weren't working out.

The coordination that takes place behind the scenes does have an impact. We had a few ideas, but this one was really coming together and looking good.

Rob, work that south side!! Get your gang to join us. ;.)

It's funny, witht he year we've had with weather... Every event had bad predications of rain, but rain only effected 1 event. So it really hasn't been the bad weather that effected us, it's the bad forecasts!!!

Fingers crossed.

The cruise is almost here, happening this Saturday. We're having a huge turnout. At this time we have 49 people and 28 cars! most folks are staying for dinner. Looks like we also have a huge contingent of our members from Wisconsin, glad you're joining us.

The weather is looking perfect. Can't wait. It's the last harrah!
