Changing the leaking timing cover gasket on my '97, old gasket hard, and broken up, and oil leak was from the top portion. (This area is particularly stressed due to pull from water pump pulley, and distance between top bolt points; lacks bolt support to top of timing cover, as the water pump bolts do not bolt on through!)
The new gasket looks same as style as the old one, and only has a fine bead of silicon-like within the gasket one side. My concern is the leak problem will eventually reoccur? Is it a good idea to use an additional gasket sealant, or is this a do not do??
