OK, I tried a search...

Has anyone made/marketed little heat extractor covers for use when washing the hood? I washed my '09 last week and wasn't too thrilled about dousing the engine compartment...

Thanks in advance for any help,

Rich

Try putting a towel underneath each side of the vents over the engine.

Seems like a great idea to me. One of the site sponsors should step up and do this. I would do it but I'm too lazy and don't have the capabilities anyway.

Take em off and wrap them with saran wrap and put them back on, making little covers for those things would be tough, and so expensive you would have to time travel back to 2006 to sell them...

Beach towel under each side works wonders as suggested.

Leaving Saran Plastic wrap on makes it overheat. And bursts at 80 mph.

We have a .99c Rip-stop Nylon Tarp on sale.......But we call it a V-10 Rain Bonnet.

-Open the Hood
-Toss the Bonnet over your motor
-Close the hood (optional)
-Wash the car with wild abandon
-Remove the Rain Bonnet

Comes in Blue or Green. $25.95 with free US mail shipping.

LATE EDIT: If you took this post seriously I also have some $240 MoPar Smoothe Tubes!

I used blue tape over the grill openings, overlapping about 1/4" onto the painted hood surface. Seems to work with no waterspots under the hood.

I haven't had an issue washing mine with the vents. Just don't spray directly into the vents. Make sure you use good car wash. The shampoo should be pH of 7 (nuetral) and it shouldnt be a problem getting on your engine.

Also, if my car is dirty enough for a wash, the engine bay is too.
