had a one time only loud backfire....

When I was at about 3/4 throttle going from 1st to 2nd....after in second I heard what sounded like a lean pop out the back and the engine seemed to hesitate a bit....I let off the gas..everything was ok...never happened again after that one time.

Could I have hit the rev limiter due to wheel spin? (does it even have one?)

Those original tires are slippery in 60 deg weather..
