PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL VIPER OWNERS ARE INVITED TO BOTH OF THESE EVENTS!!!

The IN/KY VCA is having a Viper Dyno day September 13th at Automotive Specialists (Automotive Specialists: About the Shop ) in Noblesville, Indiana from 9:00 AM up to 4:00 PM EDT if we have enough cars. For your investment ( $70 for 3 pulls if more than 5 or more cars participate, $95 for 3 pulls if less than 5 cars participate you will get three pulls with a few minutes in between pulls for light modifications. You will be able to drive your car during the pulls. After your three pulls, you will have a graph printed documenting the Horsepower and Torque curves and an approximation of the air / fuel ratio at various rpms. You will also receive a file that you can view and manipulate on your home computer. Bring a flash drive if you have one. If not, I will e-mail your file to you that evening. Please note that cash or check preferred because cc machine is up front, but cc is ok if needed.
Dyno time will be scheduled first come first served, however attempts will be made to accommodate individual needs. You do not have to drive you car if you’d rather not, nor do you have to do all three pulls, however there is no discount for less as the labor is primarily consumed hooking the car up.
Driving the car on the dyno is easy. You begin by granny shifting your way up to 4th gear. While in 4th, at about 2,000 rpm or so, you will be signaled to floor it which you’ll hold until you feel it’s enough, usually about 5,800 ~ 5,900 rpm. At that point the power band begins to drop off so revving to redline is unnecessary . You then press in the clutch to disengage the drive wheels while releasing the accelerator to allow the engine to revert to idle. The dyno rollers under your rear tires slowly decelerate and that’s it. NO BRAKING!

Any questions? Please contact Steve Fess via e-mail [email protected]

We would appreciate RSVP’s so I can give Automotive Specialists a heads up on number of runs, but walk ins are OK. If you’d like to Dyno a non-Viper, it will be allowed but only after all Vipers are done and if time is available prior to 4:00pm shut down. The event will take place rain or shine.

Thanks and I hope to see you there,

Ron Fleming, Tech Director, VCA IN/KY Region, Inc.

AND, for those who cannot make the dyno event...and/or those who plan to go to BOTH places...remember our invitation from CHAMPION DODGE:
"Champion Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge is hosting a Cruise-In and Barbeque for The Indy Mopar Club and The Viper Club on Saturday, September 13, 2008. Club members should plan to arrive between 11:30 AM and NOON (EDT) and stay until ??? Champion associates will be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. Feel free to bring your own chairs & canopies. Club members' cars will be parked in the field next to the New Car Lot at the rear of the sales building which will allow the cars to be seen from I- 465 ( AND, you will not have to worry about customers parking next to your cars!!!). Champion's address is 4505 West 96th St...located 2 blocks WEST of the intersection of Michigan Road (US 421) and West 96th St. on Indy's northwest side (Near Exit 27 of the I-465 beltway). We hope to have a great turnout and have lots of fun and look forward meeting everyone. Thank you and have a great day."

We just received word from Champion Dodge that their planned MOPAR Club/Viper Club Cruise-In and cook-out has been canceled due to the steady rain...and the prediction of rain all day tomorrow. If this event is rescheduled, we will let everyone know.

Similarly, as we ended up with only ONE FIRM COMMITMENT from a Viper owner to drive through said rain to the dyno, Tech Director Ron Fleming and I have decided to cancel the Dyno Day AND the scheduled meeting in Noblesville. If the Dyno Day can be rescheduled, we will contact everyone.

SORRY for these last minute changes...the RAIN has won !!!

Steve Fess, Sec. VCA IN/KY Region, Inc.
