During the winter we figured we needed a change of pace. That’s right, this is your opportunity to show your driving skills on a smaller scale! The Illinois Viper Club is sponsoring a night of go-karting at Chicago Indoor Racing’s facility in Addison, Illinois (www.chicagoindoorracing.com). This state of the art facility has two tracks, six lounges, games, a restaurant, and a bar to celebrate the victors and console the runner-ups.

They also offer cybersport – a hybrid combination of lacrosse, basketball and hockey using bumper cars – wild! The Bowman Race Karts 200cc motor will get you up to 35mph in no time and being only an inch off the ground it will feel like you’re doing 70mph!

You must be registered for see images

Our schedule for the day is below:

2:30pm to 2:50pm: Arrive and sign in (Bring your driver’s license).
3:00pm to 4:00pm: Briefing by track manager and waiver signing. Suiting up (track provides helmets, race suits, and neck braces)
4:00pm to 5:00pm: Track time. Three 20-lap qualifying heat races. Also a 20-lap championship race for the top 10 drivers!
5:15pm to ??: Hang out with friends, relax, eat, drink, and explore the rest the facility has to offer!
Note: This event is for all guys/gals and also novices and experienced drivers (in fact none of us are experienced here, it’s new to all of us). Drivers must be 18 years or older (16 or older with a valid driver’s license and parents consent). Also, feel free to bring your own helmet, driving gloves, and shoes if you like. Simple attire for drivers includes closed toe shoes and shorts or pants. The racing suits provided will go on over your street clothes (skirts or dresses are not recommended). They have driver suits in many sizes, up to 3XL (their rule of thumb is a max size 42 waist). No drinking alcohol AT ALL before the event, they actually test.

And what will this night of fun and frivolity with your fellow viperites cost you may ask - $70/per driver. Or, just come out and cheer on your favorite driver and watch the action from one of the several lounges.
