PS.......... Glad the tip worked for you in these special circumstances of the planned 6000-mile camping trip. That must have been one neat trip ! To elaborate:

I had always run synthetic oil in several cars the last 15+ years, {Castrol or M-1} and in my 50000 mile 93 and my 35000 mile 96. Minor seal leaks I assumed were a result of the very slippery synthetic oil (Comment, Tom?)

So, whenever I had some cross-country trips, or a down-time between track use, I used Valvoline 10-40 for an occasional low-mile sequence....ie max 1500-2000 miles. NO track events on Petroleum oils. The result was cleared up/improved seal leaks-seeping. Not only did it avoid the repair cost, but 'saved' $40 oil cost! FOR OCCASIONAL USE ONLY, PLEASE !
