Hello Jersey Members,

I am working on scheduling some "mini-events" for next year. The intent is to compliment the great agenda that we already have with some 1/2 or 3/4 day events.

I would really appreciate your feedback on these ideas - tell me the ones that are great, the ones that ****, and post any new ideas you have.

1. Horsepower (Polo Style) - We would do a cruise up to the Greenwich Polo grounds in Greenwich, CT. About 1 1/4 hour drive from Morristown, NJ. We would watch the match (and the rich people), drink Champaign and eat caviar. We would have reserved parking. Bring your spouse event. Total cost would be $30 per car.

2. Weird NJ - We would cruise to 4 or 5 weird NJ locations and check things out. Considerations are the zero gravity road, abandoned insane asylums, and other weird spots.... only on paved roads of course.

3. Highpoint - We would take a cruise to the highest point in NJ. Check things out... and people that can handle heights (I can't) can climb to the top of the Highpoint monument and see all the way to England (seriously).

4. NJ's Best - We would drive the best roads in NJ, like famous Clinton Road, sections of 46 along the Delaware, and others.

This is just the start... Tell me some other ideas. Give me ideas of when the best times of day are too.

Jay,

I like the idea!

Another is a poker run. Drive to 5 different locations, pick up a random card, get back to the final location and the winning hand gets a prize (they buy the beer for everyone else).

I like all of the ideas presented, however I need some help on the idea I was proposing which was themed months for "mini-tours" where we end our tour at a restaurant and then "judge" the wings, pizza, ribs, etc. and at the end of each month give the restaurant a Viper "sign" saying that they were "Best Wings 2008" on it, etc.

I know a few places and I'll ask my co-workers for more ideas, but if you've heard of a great place for a particular food, please post a reply.

I should have a draft of the "sign" by our next meeting.

Regards,
Aaron

Mike,
The poker run is a good time. I was involved in one w/ Keith from the NY club and I had a blast. I got a crappy hand so I didn't win the ***, but I won one heck of thrill ride that I'll never forget.

Aaron,
The "Months for Mini-tours" sound very appealing(I love to eat!) and a great drive to boot :2tu:. I do have a question: would these be full day or half day events? I imagine that it would be totally up to the participants, but was simply curious. We'll talk further at the next meeting.

Also, how about a professional photo shoot day! Maybe we can call it Beauty and the Beast and have the pics taken w/ our significant others (no wise cracks, please!). We may also be able to compile a yearly NJ/VCA calendar w/ some of the results.

Mike,
Joe Moore called me and asked me if we would be interested in attending the 2008 New Hope Auto Show. I of course told him, "YES!"

Please add the New Hope Auto Show. They want to add Viper to the list of exotic cars this year:2tu:

The event is the second weekend in August I believe, I will also let the surrounding regions know about this event.

New Hope Auto Show, Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles and More.

Hey Jer-Z,

New Hope is an incredible town. A show down there will be great... and I thought we already did it every year. No matter what the Vipers will be there!!!!

Hey Gents,

I was at the Sportsman show in Edison and found there is another Jersey winery down near Atlantic City named Balic......got me thinking....what about a winery tour, then we go to one of the casinos and have dinner there. I remember a GREAT italian restaurant in one of the casinos who claimed to have 14000 bottles of fine Italian wine and the food was incredible. I'm sure whichever casino would be pleased to have 30+ Vipers at their hotel/casino for the evening and maybe we could even get some sort of package deal.....do you think this idea has any value worth developing/exploring?

Regards,
Aaron

Obsidian,
Those are some great ideas. As i just switched my regional affiliation from PA/WV to NJ, i am looking forward to participating. Another suggestion would be to cruise up the east side of the Delaware from Lambertville north to just below Easton and then come back down the west side in PA to a great restaurant i know of. Did this once in the past and it was a big hit. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves for a Saturaday luncheon.

We had a similar event this past year with a winery visit in South Jersey, then cruised over to Lambertville/New Hope for lunch; it was a BIG hit!!

Afterwards, there was an optional cruise up the east side of the Delaware and back to Central Jersey that Charlie T. setup...keep the suggestions coming please!

Regards,
Aaron

Here is a crazy one I just thought of tonight as I was driving out of the city.

What if we did a MIDNIGHT MADNESS cruise. We would depart around midnight and cruise for a couple of hours. We would do a skyline cruise along roads with beautiful views of NYC.

The roads would be empty of course...

Maybe it is too over the top. What do ya'll think?

Hi: I to like PAvenomRT/10 moved over from the PA/W VA club for 2008, since some of those events were too far away to attend. I tried to coordinate an Englishtown Day, and tie it in with Late Model Mopar Day in late August, but only 1 other Viper showed; it was hot as he*l that day. Maybe we can set something up for the spring. I can help coordinate if necessary...........

Regards, Chris.

Sorry guys my wife let me out past 10PM. Wait maybe I can sneak out the window and start the beast down the road. Remember guys with Vipers out after hours should bring extra cash for bail. But not limited to.

We should all attend the Crab Deck run in Md. (June) Have been doing it myself for a few years and it is an awesome event.

This year is the 10th annual one. It should prove to be the best yet. We meet in Delaware and cruise down some of the best roads WITH AN ******! We should be up to 100 cars this year. It is the largest gathering outside of VOI. It is also inexpensive. Well run. Those who I have taken down, repeat the event the next year. An absolute must. It should really be a regional event, not a Va/Md/De event.

For those in South Jersey it is really very very close. We have others travel from NY. It is that good. It is the run of runs.......

Mike, I like the midnight madness cruise, I think there is a lot we can do with such an event...let me brainstorm a little and get back to you, but I like your ideas so far.

John, I wanted so badly to attend the Crab Cruise last year, but my soon-to-be-better-half was working; we've split now, so I'll definitely be onboard!!

Do any of you guys think a night at a specific casino (say the Borgata for instance) might be a fun night?

Regards,
Aaron

keep the ideas coming guys. These are all great. Need to present some to the group. If you start a post, just make sure it doesn't conflict with our schedule of events.

It's time to start considering timing for these "mini-events." Does starting in May sound good, or should we push our luck for April?

Also, once we finalize the list (I will do this with Aaron and Jay), I think each event should have an "event chair." One person that is the sole contact and responsible person for that event. I will gladly do a few, but I think if we can mix it up a little it would help, plus we can use our individual contacts, etc. to add to the event.

Also I have a contact at an exotic car club in Chester. I wonder if we could do a little mini contest up there. Something like loudest Viper, best looking Viper, and other stuff.

The winners would garage their Viper and for the cruise get a Ford GT, Lambo, etc. We would all cruise a loop and come back.

Just thinking out loud here.
