I’ve had several folks ask me about track day opportunities.
Here is some information that might be useful to people looking to track their cars on a road course.
SCCA
The SCCA sponsors both PDX (performance driving experience) and Time Trials.
The PDX is a high performance drive education event. Time trials are competitive events where fastest lap times determine the winner.
The PDX and Time Trial events are run in conjunction with the SCCA’s wheel to wheel racing events. Expect less track time than in a dedicated open track day because the PDX and TT are just part of the overall race day, but you get to spectate and corner work for the races, so it’s fun even when you aren’t driving.

NASA
NASA has HPDE (high performance driver education) and time trials events. As with SCCA, these events are run in conjunction with NASA’s other races.
There are more HPDE classes, however, and more emphasis on HPDE than SCCA, so you will likely get more track time at a NASA event.

CECA (Colorado Exotic Car Association)
CECA events are great. You get lots and lots of track time, because all that is going on is open track running, and you are not sharing track time with wheel to wheel racing.
Most of the 2007 CECA schedule is already done, but there is still one more on September 22 (Saturday) at the State Patrol track in Golden.
CECA events are organized by Rome Chelsi [email protected] You can contact him for information.
Other track opportunities:
The Pueblo road course is run much like the old 2nd Creek track. If they don’t have something else scheduled, you can call and set up an informal open track day, and just show up and drive.
However, in order to do this, you need to provide them with proof that you have on-track experience, or else take their safety course for $150.

Some other car clubs (Porsche Club of America, Z-car Club) welcome cars of other makes.
I’ve managed to get myself invitations to PCA track events, Z-car track events, and BMW car events. Typically, I just go to their web pages, find out about interesting events, then e-mail the event coordinator and see if they will let me attend. I get invited more often than I get turned down.
PCA is particularly active, and their Utah chapter has quite a few events scheduled at the beautiful new Miller Motorsports Park facility outside of Salt Lake City:
