But keep in mind Steve, no matter how fast a car might be, if the driver of said car does not know how to drive it, it(the car) will appear slower than it actually is. Just my opinion,

I run on stock 01 NON Z06 12.87 with runflat tires that are not as good as Z06. The driver must have been bad. Average Z06 runs about 12.6.

I went with a guy that could not get in to 13's He was very consistent in 14.03 and 14.3 and his car had the same HP as me and was 100lbs less than my coupe. Trust me Z06 runs in 12.6 Some of them run 12.4 with air filter.

You seem to be missing the point. There may be a Z06/track combo out there good for a stock 12.6 run, but I've yet to see it. At my local track (Sears Point) stock Z06s run 12.9 - 13.1. Stock Vipers run 12.4 at the same track. I've seen modified Z06s (intake/headers/exhaust/ecu) run 12.4 at Sears, and I've run 12.06 with the same level of mods in my RT.
Regarding whether the driver is "good" or not, check his short times compared with yours. At Sears, both I and the "good" Z06 drivers run 2.05-2.10 sec 60's, while the less experienced drivers run 2.1-2.25 secs.

A friend of mine with a Z06 who is an experienced drag racer just ran 12.93 and 12.95 at Atco under good weather and track conditions. I seriously doubt any stock Z06 would run 12.6's despite lots of wishful thinking. The Z06 is a great car by any measure but let's not stretch reality.

Thanks. I'm not a great driver. It was my third time at the track. The only mod that I had on 3K miles car was reduced PSI to 23LB. Here is my slip:

Weird, out here on the West Coast most stock Vettes are running low 13's, and at a Corvette Forum day in December of 2000 many of them were mid to high 13's, but I am not saying they could drive really well. You are an exceptional driver if you are getting those Fred Flinstone tires into the 12's on a stock C5... Hats off to you assuming you are not telling a fishermans tale ;-) ...

Actually, Sears Point is running Wednesday Night drags this Wednesday (7/18) and the following (7/25) and then no more this season! Conversely, Sacramento is NOT running test and tune this Friday (7/20).
I will be at Sears Point this Wednesday, and would enjoy some company! I'm going to be running motor & slicks, no NOS, because it's a bracket racing night. Hoping for 11.2 @ 125...

Would love to get some people together at the track in Sacramento. They currently have Test and Tune nights on Fridays 5-10pm. I went two weeks ago and got about 10 runs in. Could easily have got another 5. We should get a group together.

Then you friend must be 400LBS. If I run 12.87 with a coupe then Z06 can do better. Come down to NJ ET racetrack. We have Corvette challenge every two weeks and see it for your self. You are the one that is stretching the reality by judging Z06 performance by one car. Get your fax and lets talk.
