smog check after new battery questions...

Got a new battery today bc old battery died. Need smog check now.
Question is: how much do i need to drive the car before computer learns everything so that i can pass the smog test here in CA.

Been there, done that... You probably need to drive for about 40 minutes at highway speeds, and not vary your speed too much. When I went through that, I kept at a costant 60mph for about twenty minutes, took an offramp to head the reverse direction, and did the same. It passed the second time around no problem.

The I/M monitor that is the biggest PIA is the Evaporative Emissions test. Fuel tank must be between 15 and 85% full and car can't exceed more than 25 mph for a period of time after cold start up. This is according to the SRT engineers during the last chat session with them. Do a search for that thread and you can read their response. My 06 didn't complete this test even after driving hundreds of miles. Fortunately it is not required (yet) in my state as my car still passed inspection.
